I have a problem for experienced programmers. The following code should copy data between two different databases: import dbi,odbc conn1=odbc.odbc('mysql'); conn2=odbc.odbc('sqlite') c1 = conn1.cursor(); c2 = conn2.cursor() c1.execute("SELECT field1, field2 FROM table1") rows = c1.fetchall() c2.executemany('INSERT INTO table1 (field1=%s,field2=%s)', rows)

OK, I had a problem that I've now fixed but I can't really understand what was causing it in the first place. I have an intranet site that uses basic authentication to allow users to view and update information from an Oracle DB (ver 8.1.6 -- ancient, I know). Anyway, the site worked fine as long as the machine accessing the ASP page was running Win 2k but when an XP machine tried to view the page, the client got an error: Microsoft...

Hello, I am going nuts. I am trying to connect to my local ORACLE instance using ODBC. It used to work few weeks ago, but it fails now. Connection with: - SQL*plus: connection works! - DataDirect 5.0 Oracle Wire protocol (3rd party ODBC driver): connection works when I hit the driver's "test connection"

In an Access97 application I fetch data from an Oracle database via a linked table (via Odbc/sqlnet). The Oracle database now upgrades from 7.3 to 8.0. The Oracle odbc driver I use (2.0.3.1, supplied with 7.3) always worked fine on all Nt4 workstations. Now with the 8.0 db an odbc error occurs when the db is contacted: {ODBC Oracle Driver]ORA-01034: ORACLE not available. (#1034) SQLSetConnectAttr of the device driver had failed. On a...

Hey guys, I have an ODBC problem that has me stumped. I wrote a VBA script to run in Microsoft Excel that pulls data out of an application using that application's ODBC driver and puts it into Excel. I am trying to translate the same program over to Microsoft Access and I ran into a problem. Access locks up if the data I am querying for is not present in the database. To retrieve data from the database of the application, my Excel...

Hi, Here is a shorter code example since the last message I posted got truncated. So the problem is I created a simple VB.NET 2003 application through Visual Studio that connects to a MySQL database and loads a table into a Dataset, and then displays that table information in a DataGrid on a form for editing. The table fill works fine, the delete function works fine, but when I try to update a row, the application fails with the...

I've just discovered a bug in some code I wrote a little while ago, and I need you guys' help to fix it. My program imports data from a standard Excel Spreadsheet (just with specific column headers). I used ODBC in my VB.NET program to read that spreadsheet into a dataset, to make it easy to manipulate. The code I use to read it is as the bottom of this posting.

Hi all I have found a problem using MS Sql Server connecting via the odbc module from python-win32. I am liaising with Mark Hammond, and he is trying to help, but he is very busy, and I cannot be certain whether the problem originates with the odbc module, with the ODBC Driver, or with Sql Server itself. If anyone can help me to pinpoint this, I will be very grateful.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
