I've been using excel within VB.NET applications and I can't get it to close down and remove itself from memory.
I'm using Visual Studio 2003 ver 7.1.3088, Framework 1.1, MS Office 2003 with MS VS Tools for MS Office System 69586-3
After closing all workbooks etc and setting them to nothing, I run the following code to get rid of the Excel Application object
If Not (xlApp Is Nothing) Then
xlApp.Quit()
xlApp = Nothing
GC.Collect()

Hi there,
I'm having pain with the VB behind an Access form. The form is used to
create reports in Excel based on the details entered in the form. This
has always worked without error on my machine (NT4, Access 2k),
however as soon as I attempt to create anything on another machine
(NT4, Access 2k) which most users will be working from, I receive an
automation error.
The problem line with the code is:

After reading 30+ threads on the subject and implementing pertinent
changes I still have an instance of Excel that won't close.
I hope its due to my poor coding and someone can spot the error.
I've used Dev Avish's code as a starting point and the Sub does what I
want less the hanging instance.
Please help if you can, Rick

I'm able to open excel workbooks and word documents, but I can't seem to
copy excel charts, named ranges, etc. to a word document. Anyone know of
good reference material in this area? What little documentation I've been
able to find focuses on using only one office app at a time.

I am displaying a number of reports, and giving the users an option to
display them on the web or download them to Excel. If they want the
Excel file, I just use the PHP header command to change the Content-
Type and Content-Disposition headers, and essentially print the same
report, and it's done. That works fine.
