ASP.NET IO thread pool and asynchronous sockets

Hi,

I've an ASP.NET web service that consumes other web services as well as
sends data to client using TCP blocking sockets on a custom thread pool
threads. If I use asynchronous sockets to send data to clients, would it use
threads from ASP.NET IO thread pool ? Is it a good idea ? Or could it
potentially exhaust all threads from IO thread pool and cause problems for
web service to access other web services ?

Thanks in advance and regards

async i/o is done on the calling thread. its basically a non-blocking
i/o. you will control which thread is used by which thread makes the
async call. for example you would not want to use the web service thread
unless your thread blocks waiting for completion (as the thread may be
destroyed before completion).

you probably want to use a pool and decide what to do when the pool is
exhausted.

This message was already cross-posted to C# and ADO.NET, but I forgot to post to this "general" group... sorry about that. It just occured to me after my first post that the "general" group readers might have some thoughts on this perplexing .NET blocking issue. (see below) ===== Hi,

Hi, I'm developing an application that will support several thousand simultaneous connections on the server-side. I'm trying to maximize throughput. The client (WinForms) and server communicate via a socket connection (no remoting, no ASP.NET). The client sends a message to the server that contains some instructions and the server responds in an asynchronous fashion. In other words, the client doesn't block while waiting for the...

Hi, I don't understand why sometimes, a loop running in a thread takes much more time than usual. I have a thread that must call each 20 ms a C++ unmanaged function. I made a C++ managed wrapper for calling this function from C# (see below _serialChannel.ItTask ()). It works great but for this timing problem. Here below, the main loop for this thread :

Hi, I am using asynchronous socket (BeginAccept for example). I tried to name each thread I am using but threads created by asynchronous Socket functions (like BeginAccept) creates "anonymous" threads. I named the thread (see sample code below) in Accept callback started by BeginAccept but all connections accepted run in a thread that has the same name ! So, even a new thread is not started by BeginAccept, even my naming is

I'm working on a proxy which must support at least a dozen simultaneous connections from local clients to remote servers. It is conceivable that someone might want to run it in non-local mode, with as many as 3-4 dozen simultaneous connections from remote clients to remote servers. Supporting that is desireable but optional. The proxy will have to maintain client/server connections for up to several hours, but the traffic will be...

I have a class that handles events from another class. Unfortunately these events arrive on a different thread. How can I marshal the code execution to the thread on which the caller class was created. 'example public class MyClass { private ClassWithEvents cls = new ClassWithEvents(); public MyClass()

I'm a C# developer and I'm new to Python. I would like to know if the concept of Asynchronous call-backs exists in Python. Basically what I mean is that I dispatch a thread and when the thread completes it invokes a method from the calling thread. Sort event driven concept with threads. Thanks. Ed Gomez

Hi all, Recently I had a new coworker. There is some dispute between us. The last company he worked for has a special networking programming model. They split the business logic into different modules, and have a dedicated thread for the each module. Modules exchanged info through a in-memory message queue. In my opinion, such a model means very complicated asynchronous

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
