For what it's worth, I wrote the original PEP 318. I probably wasn't qualified, but I just wanted a nice simple way to declare class methods without having to repeat the function name. After submitting it to BDFL for approval, more work was needed and the discussion of PEP 318 on python-dev increased rapidly. It was evident that I was in...

I've been searching high and low for a way to simply convert a small XML configuration file to Python data structures. I came across gnosis XML tools, but need a built-in option for doing something similar. My knowledge of DOM and anything beyond simple XML structures is rudimentary at best. Is there a simple way to use SAX handlers to...

"Now is the time for all good web developers to use stylesheets". Hmm OK, so I start this commercial site design with the express intent of using CSS entirely. (Something I haven't attempted in about 3 years since I last wasted my time trying to get it to work). The site layout is intended to look (nearly precisely) like this from the...

Hi all, I'm fairly new to .NET and I haven't done much in C++ before, nothing complex anyway, but I have a pretty good understanding of programming in general. What I'm trying to do is create a .DLL that contains a lot of the functions and classes that I normally use. I've followed the examples from http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/2/pr12.asp...

But it's not the network reply time, but the page processing time... So, as everybody knows, Response.Write outputs to the page, and, if you use that in your page load for...

Hi, dose anybody here explain to me why memset would be faster than a simple loop. I doubt about it! In an int array scenario: int array; for(int i=0;i<10;i++) //ten loops

Simple newb question here. Ok, so I am making a simple site. I wrote some HTML and made a CSS for it. Now, I know the point of the style sheets is to save me work re-doing all of the styles for each page. Now heres my newb problem. If I change the HTML for the page I am starting with (lets say index) how do I keep myself from having to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
