Need help in creating custom windows forms in vs2005 ExEdition

1 New Member
I am a beginner in programming(c#) ,and this is my first post in this forum.
I want to know how to create custom shaped windows form in vs2005 express edition. I was able to create a oval shaped form by creating a bmp file in paint, setting it as a background & and also setting
FormBorderStyle to None
BackgroundImage to my bmp
TransparencyKey to blue(oval shape is red and rest is blue)
It works perfectly when run in 16 bit but when i change to 32 bit color i see rectangular form....is it possible to attain the same oval shape with (windows )32bit color setting in vs2005..if yes how..any links (c# ) ??
i see rectangular form even in the build application when in 32 bit.
thanks

Hi, I'm trying to bind a custom collection class to a data grid, following the guidelines from the article http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/08/CollectionsandDataBinding/default.aspx. The problem is the article is in VisualBasic. I already get the collection to be recognized as a Data Source by the IDE. It populated the DataGrid correctly from the fields on the items object of the collection, but I can't get the DataGrid to...

Hi, In my application, on some given actions while debugging in Visual Studio, I suddenly get a "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception was unhandled" Message="Error creating window handle." exception. The problem is that this exception isn't raised somewhere in a method, so it just shows up, and it causes the application to shut down. Is there anyway how to catch this kinds of exceptions? Can I put somewhere a

I use a mutex to disallow starting a second application instance. This did not work in a release build until I made it static member of my MainForm class. In a debug build, first instance got ownership, second did not and terminated. In a release build, the second instance *also* got ownership. I "fixed" it by making the mutex a static member of my MainForm class. Did the garbage collector eat my mutex because it is not referenced

Ok, after three C# books, (C# How to Program, Programming in the Key of C#, and C# Weekend Crash Course) and three weeks, I believe I have tried everything to make a certain form function correctly. I am trying to learn C# after playing around for a bit with procedural programming with PHP, not OOP, and believe I have learned quite a bit in three weeks, just not enough to accomplish this one task. If anyone has a bit of free time and...

I have developed a custom control that, among others, includes a property that is a collection of "Items". If I place an instance of my control onto a CF form, I can view all of the properties correctly in the property grid and my collection appears with the ellipses ready to open the collection editor. Click on the ellipses and the editor opens correctly and I can add and remove items in the collection. Unfortunately, the incorrect code...

Hello, I am fairly new to programming VS2005 Windows Apps, but am highly experienced in VB6. I am used to creating data access forms in VB6 using code for connections, commands, etc. Should I be looking at drag and drop methods in VS2005 or is the best method still coding all data access? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
