Hello,
My application sitting on the shared drive uses framework 1.1 and my local system has both 1.1 & 2.0. With this If I open the application its saying "Your code is written on the older version and you should convert to the new version before editing"..I don't want to migrate to the newer version.
So what I did is, ran the aspnet_regiis -i in my local system under ver1.1 folder. But even after running this its asking to convert to newer version.
Any idead how to avoid this ?. I am using VS2005
Regards,
Renil.

Hi Renil!
I remember running in to the same issue a few months ago.
I ended up migrating it to the newer version for many reasons (mainly there's functionality in the framework 2.0 that allowed me to do more with my code)
Running aspnet_regiis -i will not solve this problem.
That will reinstall the framework on your machine; however, VS2005 has its own development platform that it runs its projects in and so it ignores your localhost and this is why reinstalling framework 1.1 will not help you.
Is there any specific reason for which you don't migrating the project?

Frinny,
If I migrate its giving lot of issues like.."Cannot create type..." Moreover we will be using this application just for couple of months..so we don't want to migrate really. So kindly suggest what do I do in order to avoid this situation ?
Do I need to install VS2003 ? or ...

This is not due to the version of ASP running on your machine, rather it is because you are using a newer IDE. Most likely the program was written with VS.NET 2003, and you are trying to open it with VS 2005.

Motoma's right,
If you aren't ready to upgrade at this point I'd install VS2003 and use it instead to finish your project.
But you'll be missing out on a lot of features that 2005 has to offer.
I had the same problem...where objects couldn't get converted during the migration...it took me a few days to sort everything out but it was well worth it. If your project's really big it might take more than just a few days.
Good luck!

I have just moved a project to my laptop and get the message "Visual Studio
..NET has detected that the specified Web server is not running ASP.NET v1.1.
You will be unable to run ASP.NET Web applications or services"
Presumably there is a d/l on MSDN to rectify this, but I can't find it. Does
anyone know the URL?
Many thanks.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
