Hi
iam working with .net 2003, applicati on created in vb.net and oracle, here end of each month it can process all patient for insurance purpose, using a for loop i started process, i will get all p atient necesary information using oracle reader and storing it in a structure array, using this structures i am processing it, but while runnning this application other parts of this application slow down, and processing time is long, any way i have to provide solution within next week, i tried a lot, anyway to improve performance speed without major modifications

I wrote a simple program in VB6 to copy all the files from a directory
on a CD-ROM to my hard disk. There are about 10 files, each about
30MB.
The program uses Get and Put to get data from the CD into a buffer and
then put it into the disk. See code below. It works, but it slows
down drastically before it copies all the files. Windows Task Manager
shows the CPU usage gradually increasing as the files are copied,
until it reaches 100...

On questions of the suitability of Python for CGI, embedded apps, etc.,
execution speed comes to mind. I previously read some comparisons which
did not show Python in a good light in this regard: i.e. Python is slow
compared to Perl, C++, Java.

Is there more authoritative and current information IRT speed comparisons?
Is newer Python any faster?

Hi I am fairly new to programming but not as such that I am a total beginner
From what I understand C and C++ are faster languages than Python. Is this
because of Pythons ability to operate on almost any operating system? Or is
there many other reasons why?
I understand there is ansi/iso C and C++ and that ANSI/ISO Code will work on
any system
If this is the reason why, than why don't developers create specific Python
Distrubutions...

Hello,
I recently ported a simple utility script to analyze a data file from
Perl to Python that uses regex substitutions, not more complex than
re1 = re.compile(r"\s*<.*>\s*")
re2 = re.compile(r".*\((.*)\).*")
re3 = re.compile(r'^"(.*)"$')
When run without these regex substitutions, the scripts' speed is nearly

Hi,
Does function overloading affect the speed of execution of the program
?
If so what is the reason ?
How does it compare with a speed of a program using non-overloded
functions ?

Hi,
i am wonderng what is faster according to accessing speed to read
these data structure from the disk in c/c++ including alignment
handling if we access it on little endian system 32 bits system + OS
e.g. Windows, Linux, WinCE. I am not quite sure about the alignment of
the memory....
soln. 1: should be faster, I am not sure.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
