My apologies if this shows up twice. I've given it 24 hours, but Windows
Mail has issues posting stuff, which makes things even more fun because of
the number of Vista issues I'm having:
I have to launch the User Accounts applet with admin credentials (long story
short, UAC on my machine got corrupted and is not allowing me to enter admin
credentials, so I am completely locked out of admin account...oh, yeah,
Microsoft's own USB F-Lock keyboards (the only kind I have) will not let me
enter safe mode either).
Therefore, while I wait for MS escalation folks to call me back (seriously,
I can't even reinstall Vista in this state!), I'm trying to write an app to
put my regular user back in the Admin group, but launching MMC from command
line doesn't work (if I try to add the local user snap-in, I still have
access denied), so I'm seeing if there's some way to launch the user account
applet via .Net. My problem is that I can't find the actual process that is
being launched when I click the shortcut (it doesnt' go to file per se)

If you develop for others, you probably have multiple versions of Access
installed so you can edit and create MDEs for clients in different versions.
This works fine under Windows XP, even with Access 2007 installed.
It does *not* work under Windows Vista Ultimate. After running Access 2007,
when you open an earlier version of Access, no code works, because the
references are fouled up. And Access 97 does not work at all.

Even though I had my roots and highlights redone just a few days ago, I
don't understand why I appear to be having an ongoing blond moment.
Is it just me or do others among you not 'get' how to make C# and VB.Net
applications play nicely with the the UAC on Vista.

Have just installed IIS7 on Vista and am trying to access a .mdb file
through ASP. Getting server error.
I think the problem is in the file permission. Under XP Pro/IIS6 is used to
have to set the .mdb file security via windows explorer to give
IUSR_machinename full permissions on this file for anonymous web access.
Cant seem to do this with Vista explorer - says object cannot be found.

Hi all,
I've been struggling with an issue that I hope you can comment on or
provide suggestions to. Our .NET 2.0 (VS2005) based product is
crashing (when the user selects a particular feature on the UI) on
Vista. It works fine on XP. In a nutshell:
- user makes a selection on the UI
- System.Reflection.MethodInfo.Invoke() calls into one of our .NET

I cannot restore the Internet Explorer applet icon which displayes Internet exploer properties on Windows Vista Basic Edition desktop.
I tried re-creating the icon by making registry fix such as NewDesktopPanel key etc but still could not acheive the result.
The icon displays on a new user's desktop.
Why should we struggle so much to BRING BACK A WINDOW'S EXISTING FEATURE?
