You know there is a difference between the Microsoft .NET Framework and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK. Besides the fact that the former is 20 some MB and the latter is some 100MB there is a difference you know. But not according to this page: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;306160 This command near the bottom: N:\dotnetframework\dotnetfx.exe /t:c:\temp /c:"msiexec.exe /i

Hi all, I'm afraid this is the second posting of this information as I didn't get a response on the previous post. I will try to shorten my message (i.e. be more concise) in the hopes that it will make it easier for someone (i.e. a Microsoft person) to digest the information and respond to it. I am a C++ and Java developer with over 3 years of industry experience. I've written low level C++ code, in addition to web clients that use web...

At the bottom of the default Error page that appears when Unhandled Exceptions occur, what exactly is the difference between the "Microsoft ..Net Framework Version" and the "ASP.NET Version"? I understand that the ASP.Net version is the version of ASP.Net that the current site is running under and it can be retreived with System.Environment.Version.ToString. What exactly is the Microsoft .NET Framework Version that is displayed? It is...

I got this error when I moved my application to a new Windows 2003 server. I installed and recompiled the 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary - June 2005" then added these assemblies to the development machine's Assembly Cache. The assemblies version appears to be 1.1.0.0. I changed the project reference to the newly compiled EnterpriseLibrary DLLs. The Web.Config of my application root, I also have the following <configSections>. I...

Hi All, My company want to buy the new Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 for their employees to develop our web application. After we develop the web application using the new Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 we will deloy it to the server, and right now on our server we only have .NET FrameWork 1.1. I just wonder do we have to upgrade our server to .NET Framework 2.0 or we can it leave at FramWork 1.1. Does Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and...

Hi, What is the relationship between "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 – Beta 1" and "Visual Studio Code Name "Orcas" Beta 1"? Should I install 1 first than the other, or just 1? I need to start a C# LINQ project for my job. Thanks, Mark

Microsoft announced that it will be releasing its source code for the .Net libraries. But, don't get too excited at Microsoft's new SHARED source initiative. According to CNET (at http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9790863-7.html), "The source code will be released under Microsoft's Reference License. This means that you can only use the source as a reference for debugging, maintaining or enhancing your applications. You cannot modify or...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
