unable to distinguish b/w logged in users and others

4 New Member
hi, im making my site as a platform where everyone can see whats on the site(even if hes not a member) except few facilities thta are only given to logged in users. And in order to use the facilities provided he must be a member. now when someone visits the home page and is not a member and tries to access one of the features, hes redirect to login page/register now page. but if the user has already signed in and then he tries to use a facility hes again prompted to sign in. thts because i have redirected evry facility to the login page as i dont want any non-member to use it. so the problem is that im not able to find out whether a person has signed in or not. and if he has, then he must not be prompted again to sign in.
help asap.thanks

What you'll probably want to end up doing is working with a couple of roles and allow access to the protected areas of your site through one of these roles.

The trick is using the <location path="/protectedstuff" > tags under the configuration section of your web.config.

Search this Patterns & Practices page for the above mentioned tag and you should be on your way.

Hope this helps.

Running DB2 v7 UDB ("DB2 v7.1.0.93", "n031208" and "WR21333") on Windows XP, I am unable to find out why the "Build for Debug" option within Stored Procedure Builder is not enabled on Java stored procedures. It is enabled for SQL stored procedures. It is possible to "Build" and "Run" the Java SPs, it just isn't possible to click on the "Build for Debug" option. Thanks for any help in advance. Michael

Hi. We are using SQL Server 2005 64-bit on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 Enterprise Edition. I have a really weird problem where I have people out there who are placed in the db_owner, db_accessadmin, and db_securityadmin roles in their database, and yet they are unable to add new users to their databases, despite the fact that logins exist for these users on the server. The reason is that when attempting to add a new user in Management...

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue where users are not able to bind with LDAP via "GetObject" through our ASP Classic Intranet if they stay logged in overnight (beyond their allowed login hours). The problem does not occur when performing the same bindings using a logon script. So, the user logs in, is able to perform queries all day, and then fails to log out at the end of the day. We'd prefer that they did log out nightly, but it...

What would be the best way of counting the number of users who are currently logged on to a website? I am making the users login against a database of valid users. Would the best way be to add a bool field to the table and set each user to 1 if they are logged in, and 0 if they are not logged in? *** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
