Reading serial barcode scanner in c#

1 New Member
I am using serialPort control to read data from a barcode scanner , Can you please suggest me the most reliable methof to do this. Now I generate an even based on the data received in the serial port :

private void serialPortS2_Da taReceived(obje ct sender, System.IO.Ports .SerialDataRece ivedEventArgs e)
{

this.Invoke(new EventHandler(Do Update));

}

private void DoUpdate(object s, EventArgs e)
// private void DoUpdate()
{
toolStripStatus Label1.Text = "Reading Serial Port";
string sTCRead = serialPortS2.Re adExisting();
comboBoxTransmi ssion.Text = sTCRead.Substri ng(0, 10);
Transmissions.A dd(comboBoxTran smission.Text);
CheckForRework( );

}

If I run this with a break it works fine but the received data is not in full if I run without break, can any of you suggest me how do I hold till the complete data is received ?

I have to setup a point-of-sale system for a friend. He has a PC, barcode scanner, receipt printer and cashdrawer. The receipt printer connects to the serial port. The cashdrawer connects to the printer. The barcode scanner has a keyboard wedge. Do I need to setup the receipt printer as a windows printer ? OR can I send output directly to the serial port using ASP ?

What i'm doing is using a USB Barcode scanner, windows sees the scanner as a keyboard. For those who have found it impossible to get help in communicating with Wasp's WDT-2200 Barcode Scanner through a COM Port, except by using their supplied DTComm software, I am presenting what I have found through use of a Protocol Analyzer connected to the COM port, and how I have managed to upload (from Scanner to Computer) a file holding transactions recorded by others using the scanner to "Issue Parts". Quickly though, allow me to note...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
