dhcp timeout make boot slow and take long time

Hello there people...i have been triying to find by myself...withou t success

I have a laptop that i use for work and home.
At work we have DHCP server running that gives me a 192.x.x.x (class C ip
adddress)
At home i dont have (and dont wont either) dhcp server running, so i used a
static configuration with anoter 192 config (that really doenst matter)

What i have done is to use "Alternate IP configuration", but is not working
"perfectly"

At work, when i plug my computer and turn it on, i got ip in "2 seconds",
and windows runs perfectly.

At home, after turning on, my computer starts looking for any dhcp server
and shows a kind of "loading". After 60 seconds, plus or less, my desktop is
shown and i have the alternate configuration applied.

Im looking for a registry key, script, or a policy to decrease the DHCP time
out, to 10 seconds for example.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks a lot
george

I have a form where users logged in using sessions can edit articles in a WYSIWYG editor. Some of them take their time and don't like to save their work very often and occassionally the sessions expire and their work goes poof. (I've suggested editing off-line and simply copy+paste but they prefer the editor.) After a lot of searching I've found the main culprit is session.gc_maxlifetime and I can set it longet like... ...

I have a very puzzling situation with a database. It's an Access 2000 mdb with a SQL 7 back end, with forms bound using ODBC linked tables. At our remote location (accessed via a T1 line) the time it took to go to a record was very slow. The go to mechanism was a box that the user typed the index value into a combo box, with very simple code attached: with me.RecordsetClone .FindFirst " = " & me.cboGoTo If Not .NoMatch Then Me.Bookmark...

Hi, I have a question: I made a windows service (using VS wizard). All it does is to connect to my site every X seconds and check if there is anything new to download. If there is- it downloads a big file (using WebClient.Download() ). On MY computer it doesn't take a ling time, but on other computers it may take some time (lets say 10 minutes). Is there any chance that after a while .net will raise an exception that the server is not...

Timeout Calling Web Service I am calling a .NET 1.1 web service from an aspx page. The web service can take several minutes to complete its tasks before returning a message to the aspx page. If the web service is taking a long time to complete, the aspx page returns a ‘The operation has timed-out.’ Message to the web browser after 100 seconds. I’ve added: <httpRuntime executionTimeout="300" /> to the web.config files

I have converted a .Net 1.0 application to .Net 2.0 and the web service invocations have delay of around 10seconds on each intial access. After the first access subsequent access are fast (After a whild of inactivity the next access will be slow agian). Changing the client to static IP address instead of DHCP makes the initial access about 1 second which is fine. Monitoring the network of the client computer the cleint is sending out 2...

I have a site that uses a connection to an Oracle server, and I'm looking to make it intelligent enough so that if the database is offline for any reason (IT are updating, etc) then my site won't break. This is easy enough with a try/catch around my conn.Open(); command, but the time it takes for the catch to kick in is huge, relatively speaking. For example, I have one page that makes 2 seperate calls to my method to return a DataTable,...

Dear all, I have been using the queue module for a multithreaded environment and things seem to work well... until we had a requirement for the application to be able to time sync to the server. With the time sync, it actually disorientated the timeout in the queue's get() method... e.g. get(item, 2.0)

Hi all, Firstly, I am very little knowledgible when it comes to Windows OS (Client OS or Server OS). But offlate my urge to get myself in terms with it increased and soon I was meddling with the various services offered by Win Server 2003. Ok. Now here s the scenario. Firstly I have a Huawei Router with DHCP enabled in it. And then I have 'bout 5 machines at home which I intended to set up as a network and make one of the machines a Monster...

Hi, I've got a very basic asp.net page that accesses a very slow db query and siplays to screen. I'm hitting a timeout aftre about 3.5 to 4.5 minutes - seems to be variable. SQL connection string timeout is set to 3000s. SQL Command timeout is set to 3000s. IIS Connection Timeout is set to 120s. ASP.NET script timeout is not set so must use default of 90s.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
