Sockets issue, how to listen to UDP socket for multiple instances

2 New Member
Hello,

I have 2 instances of server.
Both instances create UDP socket listening for incoming messages.
It seems that only 1 instace of my server can listen to the messages, the other seems to see that the UDP socket is not available when it suppose to receive.

Below are portion of my code:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Socket udpSocket = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Dgram,     ProtocolType.Udp);          udpSocket.SetSocketOption(SocketOptionLevel.Socket,SocketOptionName.ReceiveBuffer,BufferCapacity);
  2.                 udpSocket.SetSocketOption(SocketOptionLevel.Socket, SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress, 1);
  3. int servicePort = (int)transport.Properties["port"];
  4. System.Net.IPEndPoint localEndPoint = new System.Net.IPEndPoint(System.Net.IPAddress.Any, servicePort);
  5. IPEndPoint sender = new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 0);
  6. EndPoint tempRemoteEndPoint = (EndPoint)sender;
  7. udpSocket.Bind(localEndPoint);
  8.
  9. while (keepAlive)
  10. {
  11.                     fetchSignal.WaitOne();
  12.                     //This call is made to yield processor resources, Remote Client doesn't
  13.                     //consume 100% of the CPU.
  14.                     Thread.Sleep(1);
  15.                     while (keepFetching && (udpSocket.Available > 0)) //only if data is available..
  16.                     {
  17.                             .......
  18.                     }
  19. }

NOTE: The 2nd instance see that the udpSocket.Avail able is 0. While the 1st instance can see that the udpSocket is greater than 0.

Hi, I have a problem with threads and sockets. I'll try to describe the problem in words with pseudo-code. I've been working on a few classes to make it easier to work with threads. This framework, let us call it that, consists in two parts. The first part is just a basic thread class deriving from threading.Thread with a few extra functionality that makes it easier for a thread to spawn a new thread and "father it". Each of its

I have a question about socket programming in general. Exactly what happens behind the scenes when I one socket connects to a different socket in listen mode? Using the dotnet framework, I create a socket, bind it to a port, put it in listen mode, and then n sockets can connect to it. The code: Socket newSocket = listeningSocket.Accept(); returns a socket. I can communicate on newSocket, and listeningSocket goes

the way my program needs to go is -- 1) open a socket and listen on it 2) moment a client connects to the socket - process some data (by sending it to another machine), get the result and send it back to the SAME socket - the data isnt a large value (measured in bytes rather than MB or GB) i TRIED thinking of this in the Asynchronous way - BeginReceive - then pass to the OnClient Connected handler, which calls a Wait For Data

The program listens on a port for incomming connections. When a valid connection is made (we send this init string into the socket from the clients) the server closes the socket so...

Hello, I have created a perl script that connects to a specific socket (Ip address/port) using protocall of TCP. It is the server socket script. There is also coding to manage multiple handles by usung the select() in the coding. This was needed due to the fact we expect a large volume of transactions at any given time on the client's side. The script's purpose is to connect to the client's port and listen for connections, accept the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
