I'm having a weird bug and wondering if anyone has ever seen this before
A Hello World GUI app. Create an app.config. When you build, Studio copies
app.config to bin\debug\ and renames it to the name of your EXE (sorta; turns
out if your app is in a namespace, Studio names your EXE after the entire
namespace but names your config file to only the app name and not the full
namespace path, which in turn means your EXE cannot find it's...

Hello, I am probably in the wrong forum but any direction would be
appreciated. I recently installed the distributable for asp.net 2.0. I
notice that with 2.0 the wizards (1.0, 1.1) are no longer in the
control panel but instead accessed through a website configuration
tool. I know that it can be accessed via visual studio 2005 but I am
testing a server install and installing studio on a server is a no no.
So I am trying to figure out how...

The ASPNET Configuration tool does not appear to be able to handle derived MembershipUser classes.
Even the simplest possible derived class (one which merely wraps MembershipUser itself, duplicates its public constructor but adds
no additional methods or properties) causes ASPNET Configuration to blow up. The error message indicates that ASPNET Configuration
cannot load the derived Type from the...

Hi all,
I have a strange behavior with the ASP .NET 2.0 Admin tool.
When I click on ASP.NET Configuration in VS 2005 the Administration
intro page displays correctly but when I click on any link "Security",
"Application" or "Provider" the message "Tool as timed out" appears.
I can't find any KB article about this problem.

I'm seeing a strange problem in the Web App config tool: After
creating a role and a user, going back to the Security tab home page, I
get a "Specified cast is not valid" error.
I've set up my web application to use SQL Server to store the
Membership database using aspnet_regsql.exe and have successfully
opened the Web Config Tool.
Then, I create a role, and go look in the SQL Server aspnet_roles
table, and there is the role. All...

I am exploring use of the new ASP.NET 2.0 membership facilities.
Using Visual Studio 2005 on WinXP, I have one little site in
http://localhost/mySite which exposes the menu choice "ASP.Net
Configuration" when I click on the menu bar item "Website".
And yet, using Vstudio 2005 on WinXP, I have another little site in
http://some.remotePC.com/mySiteA which does NOT expose the menu choice
"ASP.Net Configuration".

I'm in the process of building my first C#.NET web app, and I'm having
a tough time with setting the securities up on it. I used the ASP.NET
Configuration Tool and created an admin user in an Administrators group
without any problem, and as far as the login page, I used an ASP.NET
login control.
However, I'm unable to log into my site. I get an error telling me my
login attempt failed. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to...

The ASP.NET Configuration tool is great for quickly managing users in the
database on my development machine.
However, I don't see a way to use it to access the database on my Web
server. Is this possible?
Thanks.

By default, IIS is configured to timeout a session in 20 minutes,
which can be changed through the IIS config window.
I use InProc sessionState mode. I can also set the session timeout in
web.config. So here is my question:
If IIS setting has a session timeout value of 20 minutes, but my
web.config setting has a session timeout of 30 minutes, will the
session time out in 20 minutes or in 30 minutes?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
