A couple of months ago, I posted a call for volunteers on C.L.PY for our demo voting system development project (open source Python on SourceForge). I am very pleased with the result so far. We have some excellent developers to go along with some top notch experts in voting technology we have on board. David Mertz has taken the Development Lead position. We still have a need for a few people to take charge of some sub-projects. We had...

Listening to National Public Radio while reading comp.lang.python. What a life! I just heard a piece on NPR about the security failures of an electronic voting system being developed. I know a voting system could be developed in python. I am working on a simulator myself to run via the web (a personal project only) Are there any features which would make python a viable alternative to develop a real voting system for use in the US? Why...

Hi I have read some mail on the dev mailing list about PEP 318 and find the new Syntax really ugly. def foo(x, y): pass I call this foo(1, 2), this isn't really intuitive to me! Also I don't like the brackets.

I've got a voting script that's a little too simple. I can vote as as many times as I can click on the link in my browser. I'n not trying to write an official voting system but I would like to do something as simple as catching the user's IP address and remembering it for a time interval. That has it's own problems, but it would at least prevent double clicks. I can get the IP #, but how do I store it on a server? I can do a flat file...

I'm looking for a open source PHP voting system. I found many open source and commercial php survey/vote programs on hotscripts.com, such as phpsurveyor, phpESP. They all work the same way, admin construct a survey, and users vote. I'm looking for a voting system with out-of-box feature, which makes user register himself and create a rating of certain product, and visitors can vote. Just like epinions.com. Is there anything like that...

Hello, I know there exits Windows APIs for reading the logon credentials. We can read the logon password using the APIs. I am working on a module which requires the finger print ID associated with the finger print logon. If such an information exists please let me know. One of the interface in the module requires that input. Please do the needful.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
