Previously posted on the VB newsgroup with no replies, so any ideas
appreciated. I have written a service application in VB (VS.Net 2003). On
start, the service creates an object that instantiates a
System.IO.FileSystemWatcher like so (the _watcher is
declared at the class level as Private and no WithEvents):

I have a windows service that does some stuff. It runs a couple of
batch files. After the successful execution of a batch file I need to
display some sort of notification to the end user that the job did
infact complete successfully.(Note: Once the jobs are completed the
service simply keeps checking a folder on the network for more files
to process, if it doesnt find them it just sits and does nothing. It
checks every minute and works...

I read that interactive windows services will not be allowed to run under
Wista. I would like to ask what exactly is the interactive service. It is
supposed to be a service that communicates with desktop.

Hi.
I know my windows service works when i run it in debug mode on my dev
machine.
It also works in release mode on my dev machine. But, when I move the
service to
a production server, it exits immediately with a start/stop/nothing to
do error.
What could be wrong?

instant messaging program or a mail notifier) within my Python
application, on Windows only (no Gtk/Galago, please). I need no more
than a simple text-based notification, which should be clickable and

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
