After following Microsofts admonition to reformat my system before doing a
final compilation of my app I got many warnings/errors upon compiling an rtf
file created in word. I used the Help Workshop program: hcw.exe that's
included with Visual Basic. This exact same file compiled perfectly with no
notes, warnings or errors prior to...

I know the Domain, UserName, Password and folder on the
domain:\\inpsol301\home$\abc
Supposed I can use UserName, Password and Window Explore to map the folder
above to X: and then write a file to it.
Question: How can I do it programmatically without mapping the drive?
full source code is most welcome!

HI
anyone knows how can I open a mapped network file in C#?
I try string file = @"T:\file.txt"; it shows me the error: "Could not find
a part of the path"
but if I copy the file to my C dirve, and use @"C:\file.txt"; it worked
Thanks a lot

I need to access some data on a server. I can access it directly using UNC
(i.e. \\ComputerName\ShareName\Path\FileName) or using a mapped network
drive resource (S:\Path\FileName).
Here is my problem: my vb.net program has problems with UNC. If the UNC
server is restarted or goes off-line, my VB.net program crashes. The code
for UNC...

I am aware, that it is maybe the wrong group to ask this question, but
as I would like to know the history of past file operations from within
a Python script I see a chance, that someone in this group was into it
already and is so kind to share here his experience.
I have put already much efforts into this subject googling around, but
up...

When using Visual Studio 2005, I was able to read the text file if it's in my local c:\ drive
ifstream myfile;
myfile.open("C:\\test.txt"); --------------> this works on local drive
if (!myfile) {
cout << "Unable to open file";
exit(1); // terminate with error
}
myfile.close();

I have a VS2005 VB.Net windows form application deployed to a share drive.
The windows explorer security permissions for this application (.exe) file
is set for Everyone with List Folder/Read Data not allowed. This is done so
that users cannot take away a copy of the .exe file. When I execute the
..exe from the client computer I get .Net...

I am actually trying to get the UNC path of the main module of a process
running from a mapped drive, and I am trying to do this from a service. The
ProcessModule class only provides the full path with the mapped drive letter,
but the drive letter refers to the drive mapping for the user that started
the process, and cannot be resolved to a...

I have installed the front end for my database on several machines
(the front end is an mde), which links to a back end on a network
drive all my users have access to. To prevent mapping errors, the
links are done with the full network path (no shortcut letters).
The setup has worked on all machines, except one. This user keeps
getting...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
