How can I find the "My Profile" tab on the Start page. I have the "Recent
Projects", "Getting Started" and "Visual Studio Headlines" in panes on the
left hand side and "MSDN: Visual C++" on the right. The picture in
"Introducti on to Visual Studio .NET" shows a different Start Page tab with a
link "My Profile" highlighted on the left hand side.
What I really want to do is restore the default window layout of Visual
Studio .NET 2005. I've lost the toolbox used in populating controls in a
dialog. It seems that I can do this through the "My Profile" page if I
could find it!

Have you tried Window -Reset Window Layout?
Failing that, you might try:
Tools -Import and Export Settings...
Select Reset All Settings.

That worked for my main problem. Thanks for the information. Still no sign
of "My Profile" however on the Start tab :(

I don't have "My Profile" in VS2005, so I don't know what you're
talking about.
In reference to your problem, do you mean that in the Toolbox
for adding controls to a form, under <Dialogs>, you have no tools?
It's not compressed, it is? (I.E. is there a + next to Dialogs?)

At the following link:
ms-help://MS.VSCC.v80/MS.MSDN.vAug06. en/dndotnet/html/introvisstunet. htm,
there is a screen shot of a Start Page labelled "My Profile". One of the
comboboxes is labelled "Window Layout" and there show tantalizing is "Visual
Studio Default." I presume that this refers to .NET 2005 since it is from
the MSDN August 2006 disc.
I've actually solved the problem of resetting my default window layout
following pvdg42's excellent suggestions. I just thought that since the My
Profile screen is given some prominence in the help, it should be easy to
find :)

I undocked one of my windows and all hell broke loose!
The more I tried to restore the original IDE layout (left pane of
Server Explorer, Toolbox Start Page above and Output below; right
pane of Solution Explorer above and Dynamic Help below) the worse I
made it.
Any help would be appreicated. Thanks

The following failed in EM (or whatever it is called now management
studio I think) and I scripted it out and ran it in a query window to
get more info. This works fine in SQL 2000 but not in 2005. I also tried
to 'create' the database first then ran this command below but with the
'force restore over existing database' checked on but this failed also
which is odd as well. Any ideas. This is my very first play with 2005 so
it is not off to...

The only reason I ask is that no one has made this subject clear or
given a definitive answer.
What I would like to do is, after turning off all the menus/tbars/etc
using the startup options.
Upon restarting Access, when an admin is detected (I use a
GetSystemUser() function) I want to restore everything so that Access
behaves like normal, ie. all menus/tbars/etc show up (only where they
are supposed to show up).

hi.
i need to restore an old database. The db was backed up using a DLT drive,
using 2 volumes. The content for the tapes was copied to file onto Solaris

and can't read the tapes anymore.
Server is AIX 4.3.2 and database is IBM DB2 Server (DB2 for AIX Version

I have visual studio .net 2003, the problem is now the solution
explorer window, and the class view window are gone, they are
originally located on the right hand side of the visual studio window.
I went to menu bar and click view and it shows up, but I want it to
locate on the right hand side as it used to be, rather than floatting
around on the screen. It really bothers me and I tried to move the
windows around and still couldn't make it...

Hi,
After just installing sql 2005 on our test machine, I am trying to
restore a database using a backup file on the network. However, the
specify backup diagol box allows only for browsing to a file on the
local machine - I find no way to type a UNC path to choose the backup
file from. I can do this in 2000, is it no longer an option to doit
through the GUI or am I missing something?

I recently installed Visual Studio 2003, after having already installed VS
2005. Unfortunately, it took over all of the file associations. There is
an option in Visual Studio 2005 to restore these associations, under Tools >
Options Environment General. However, this button doesn't seem to do
anything. Specifically, my SLN files were associated to VS 2003, and when I
clicked this, this association didn't change. I even tried deleting...

I downloaded Stephan's utility from his website but can't get it to
work - or maybe I'm not driving it properly!
The form works OK with the existing 3 "views" - I can switch between
them and they display changes fine.
But if I add or remove a table from any one of them, strange things
happen.
For example: start with a fresh copy of the downloaded database.
Open the form and click on the "Admin" view.
Right click and click on "Show Table"...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
