Hi
I am trying to control my mobile from my WinXP machine. The
mobile is connected through USB which is mapped on COM 5. With
Hyperterminal everything looks good.
But when I try:
---------------------------------------------------------------
use Win32::SerialPort qw( :STAT 0.19 );
$ob = new Win32::SerialPort ('COM5') || die "Can't open COM5:
$^E\n";

I am trying to read data from com1 and I am using the new serialport control.
I downloaded the script from microsoft that does a readline from the comm
port, but I keep getting the "operation timed out" error. I then will open
up HyperTerminal and connect and the output then displays? The arguments
appear to match up between my serialport control and what is setup in
HyperTerminal. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
I'm experimenting with the Serial Port in VB.NET 2005. Although it isn't
that easy to get any feedback from my COM-port as I thought it would be...
How can I read all the Data that the port sends back?
I tryed with SerialPort1.ReadLine, but that blocks the application and takes
a lot of time (10 seconds!), I tryed SerialPort1.Read, but I have to read it
into a buffer and has to indicate the count, but how do I know this?

Hi there,
I'm developing an application to catch OBD sensors' data from my car.
I connect it via a RS232 interface.
Now.
with HyperTerminal I can connect and send/receive data, but I'd like to do
this from inside my C# program.
Anyone can write down a very small (or tell how to do it myself) application
containing methods like WriteToSerialPort(string what) and
ReadFromSerialPort(what).

Hello all,
Does anyone have an example on how to implement the new SerialPort Class in
VB.NET? I have been able to create the class, send (.WriteLine) to the port
and Read from the port but cannot figure out how to use the Events to tell
my program that data is available in the serial port buffer.
I have searched the internet and MSDN and there doesn't appear to be any
full example on how to do this simple task.

Hello,
I have a problem with the SerialPort Control under VC# Express 2005.
In my application I have to read data from an external device through RS 232.
The process is built on a software-based handshaking which depends on the
device.
The process has been implemented by me and works but unfortunately only the
first time.
All data are donwloaded successfully as required.

Hello,
I'm developing an application in VB.NET 2005 that communicates with a device
through RS232,
and need to send the following sequence of hexadecimal data to the device:
0xFF, 0x01, 0xC3, 0xE3, 0xFF, 0xFF.
That's the configuration:

Forgive me for stupid questions for I am new to serial IO programming.
I am developing an app that will need to communicate with a device via
RS232 protocol using a standard 9 pin serial cable. From what I
understand this can be accomplished relativly easy using .net 2.0
SerialPort component over a COM port.
My question: because most newer computers don't have 9 pin serial
ports (COM), can the SerialPort component use a USB connection...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
