Hi. I am trying to automatically backup transaction log when error 9002 happened. So i have created appropriate job and alert to catch this error. I have two instances of sql server under Windows 2000. One of them is full SQL Server, another is msde. When transaction log is full in full SQL Server error 9002 severity 17 state 2 is logged in sql server log and in Windows Application log. My alert firing my job. All is fine. But when...

In C, I would always make a log() function instead of using printfs, so that I could disable the messages or otherwise process them, all in one place. This worked in 1 line, for constant strings, but not for variable values, as in: char s; sprintf (s, "The value is %d \n", value); log (s); // 3 lines!! In C++, is it really as bad as it was? If I use streams: ostringstream oss;

Hi All In the Circular Logging when the Primary Log file fill up, the database manager will creat a secondary log files for the transaction; when this transaction finished, the secondary log files still allocated in log directory; when all application disconnect from database or database reactive or database restart the secondary log files will be deleted from log directory. For each transaction log request, database manager always...

Hi, I am a bit confused about what I'm seeing on my systems. I am trying to develop a script that will determine what percentage of the total log space is being used. If it is too high (80%) the on-call DBA will be paged. First some system information: get db cfg for ip0 First active log file = S0055850.LOG

Greetings, I tried to implement log shipping using PULL method as described in 'The Basics of DB2 Log Shipping' by Dale McInnis, but found the subsequent "rollforward" did not go beyond the first log. Here is what I did: 2 machines: Primary and standby servers both W2K SP4 running DB2 8.2. Both have logretain (YES) and USEREXIT (ON) set.

Hi, We have created a SQL server 2000 database. We observe that the transaction log keeps growing over time. We are now about to run out of space. We have been periodically shrinking the database. Nevertheless the size has increased. I would imagine that a transaction log can be eliminated if we stop the database. Can that be done? Is there a way to completely wipe off the transaction log? Thanks,

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
