Hi, I am new in .NET. Can some body point out if I can open windows explorer from web application by clicking on a link button? I have tried this:
Protected Sub lbOpenFolder_Cl ick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArg s) Handles lbOpenFolder.Cl ick
Dim dblRetVal As Double
Dim sCmdLine As String
Dim sPath As String
sPath = "\\servername\d irectory name"
sCmdLine = "EXPLORER /E," & sPath
dblRetVal = Shell(sCmdLine, AppWinStyle.Nor malFocus)
End Sub
It works fine when running in VS 8. But once it's deployed to webserver. or my local host (inetpub\wwwroo t, virtual site) it does not work at all. no error message, just refreshed page. it does have the return value.
Anybody knows why?
Thanks in advance!
Jin

Is it possible to open windows explorer to a particular directory, maybe
even select a particular file, from Access VBA?
I have a DB that is loaded with a file list - certain files I open in their
native program, others it would be nice if I could open explorer up to the
files location.
If anyone can give, or direct me to a code sample, I would greatly
appreciate it.

Okay, here is what's happening:
I have a reasonably fast laptop (1.4 GHz Mobile M, so comparable to 2.5GHz

Running Windows XP pro, SP2
IIS is installed and running fine
All SQL Servers I am referring to share a small (10 computers or so) LAN
with a 100MB Switch.
No other computers on the LAN exhibit this problem.

Hi,
Both way works, I'd just ask some experts which way is better?
My application creates a log file daily.
Now each time when I write a log, I will open the file and append to the
end. Ocz, if the file is not exist(e.g. another day), it will creates the
file first.

I just recently changed my database that I'm running from a monolithic

the BE resides on a network drive. I'm experimenting with a utility

upgrade process I've implemented, and I'm hoping one of you may have

Hello,
I am using the "Application.FollowHyperlink strFilePath, , True" line
of code from within access forms to launch any file type I want (e.g.,
xls, doc, pdf, etc.). The files open up okay, but open up in the
background. How do I make them open in front where they are visible?
I have tried various things like "Appliction.Visible=True / False"
and "Screen.ActiveControl.Visible=True / False" but have not been able
to figure it out.

Using C#, .NET3.5, Visual Studio 2008 and WCF on Windows VISTA SP1, I have written a service, service host (as a C# console application) and a client.
The service uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application to access an Excel file on the local hard drive, opens it (using Application.Workbooks.Open), reads out some data and the provides said data to the client.
Everything works perfectly when the Service Host is a C# console...
