Conditional check of a value inserted by user while installation

1 New Member
Hi All,

I am preparing a .Net deployment project, where i need to get some data from the user. I have added custom textbox dialog in Installer which has one textbox visible where the user has to write "Product Code" in it.
Now i need to check whether the Product code inserted by user is same with the actual product code or not.
How do i check the whether both values are same or not?
If both values are not same, i need to cancel the installation.
Please let me know how do i achieve that.

At present, In the textbox while installation, i used to store the value entered by user in registry key by setting the Value property of Registry entry by [EDITA1]. And i tried to put the condition in the Codition property = [EDITA1] = "{123456}"
where {123456} is a product key.

Please let me know in case i can achieve the same in any other way.

Thanks in advance.
Jay Kudecha.

Tell me if my assertion is wrong here: The only way to prevent session hijacking is to NEVER store authentication information (such as name/password) in the session. Well, to never authenticate a user from information you got from the session. Each secure app on a site must challenge the user for name and password, each and every time the user accesses it (not just once and then store it in the session). If a secure app is multi-page,...

Hello, I've been just investigating IE conditional comments - hiding things from non-IE/Win browsers is easy, but I wanted to know, if it's possible to hide code from IE/Win browsers. I found <!> in the original MSDN documentation, but this is (although it is working) unfortunately non-validating gibberish. So I fooled around trying to find a way to make it valid. And voila: <!--><!><!-->

I am building an application for keeping track of user permissions here at work. I have built the interfaces, and am now working on the processing page for inserting to the database. I am having a problem with a conditional in my loop not working correctly, I am sure that I have been overlooking something, but cannot pin it down. I have pared the code down quite a bit just so that I could resolve my issues with it. I have a page...

Hello all! For quite some time now, I've got the following problem: Access won't close properly when a user closes the application. An ACCESS process stays active and that process can only be terminated by pressing ++ and then terminate the process. I searched the entire internet and found out that there could be two things wrong (both of them are mentioned in the bug list on the access

I use conditional compiler constants, set through the VBA IDE in Tools, <projectname> Properties, that I refer to throughout my code to control which code is used during development, and which during production. Usually, this only wraps code used to control quitting the whole app versus just shutting a form, but it can also control many other things. However, as part of the build before delivering an update, I have to remember to...

I have an Access form called "Login". "Command10" is a button on the form and "Text5" is a text field on it. When a user enters a value in the Text5 text field and clicks the button Command10, I want my function to check if the value in Text5 matches any value of InstructorID in the Instructor table. If yes, I would like the control to switch to another form called "Existing Instructor" else I'd like to generate a message to the user that...

Hello, I am in the midst of converting an Access back end to SQL Server Express. The front end program (converted to Access 2003) uses DAO throughout. In Access, when I use recordset.AddNew I can retrieve the autonum value for the new record. This doesn't occur with SQL Server, which of course causes an error (or at least in this code it does since there's an unhandled NULL value). Is there any way to retrieve this value when I add a...

I have a deployment project that I'm setting up. I need to perform a different custom action based on whether this is a first time install or an update. Does anyone have any idea if it's possible to set the Condition property of a custom action to determine if the currently running install is upgrading a previous installation and if so how? I'm also open to other methods of acheiving this functionality.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
