Real time update of database data

2 New Member
Hi,

I am currently developing a travel website (C#) where multiple agents book seats online using a graphical view of seats where the availability of seats must be updated in real time as and when they are booked by different agents.

The seats booked are stored in a table in a database. The graphic displays seats available in green and reserved in red, but how do I display in realtime the status turning a particular seat red as soon as it is clicked to book without refreshing the page.

Can it be done using AJAX or some other technologies??? ?

With Regards
Tanmay.

Hello, We are starting to discuss a new ASP.NET application that will be a data acquisition display application. The data to be displayed will come from multiple sources--database tables, serial and Ethernet PLCs, OPC servers, etc. The application will need to display graphic gauges and charts, in addition to the actual values retrieved from the various data sources. The application will need to continually update itself in a real-time...

Hi All, I am creating multi-tier app in vb.net using visual studio .net. I create a invoice.vb class file with properties, events and methods. This also has a line item collection class (lineitem.vb & lineitems.vb). I create a form (form1.frm) and write the corresponding code to initialize an invoice object, there are textboxes on the form to display the data, an update and load button. My data is stored in an access database.

What I mean is, I want my web client to be updated in real-time. The scenario is that I have a database that is updated asynchronously, and when the update takes place I want to 'notify' my web clients so that they can display new information. This must be a push rather than a pull, so I don't want to use a timer on the client. Is there a way to do this? TIA

I have a traditional application using a database and procedural code that works fine. I'm re-writing it using the OOP methodology, just to see how this may be the better way to do things. I think I've got a pretty good grasp of the three pillars of OOP, and have objects properly defined using inheritance, encapsulation, etc. as appropriate. Now it's time to do some processing using real data, and the data resides on a relational...

Some time within the next nine months, there's a pretty good chance I'll have the "opportunity" to port a bond trading system that I wrote - whose front end is currently MS Access - to .NET. Quotes bc I need this like I need another hole in the head. But in the words of one of my esteemed colleagues: "I don't sell programming; I sell happiness." And if this will make my clients happy, that's what floats my boat in the long run.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
