Hello,
I have a simple problem. I got two visual studio projects, one is an
application, the other a common windows service. The application needs
to get a remote reference of the service. Now the question: How do I
get the application-project known to the referenced classtype of the
remote object in the service-project ?
Thanx for any help!

Hi All,
I am trying to access a mapped network drive from a service that I have
created.
The service needs to create/delete folders/files on a network drive. When I
tried to connect to a folder on mapped network drive (eg. N:\Storage that
corresponds to \\FS1NS\SharedDir\), I get an error as "Could not find part
of path N:\".

Hello all, I've tried posting this same question on other newsgroups
with no luck. This group seems to have a lot more activity so I
apologize if you have seen it before.
I'm trying to create a web service in c# using paradox data. The data
is stored locally on my development machine with IIS also installed.
Web services are working to the point where I can return strings and
ints using Access2000 data but whenever I try and...

Hello,
I'm running an ASPX application "WebApplication1" which
consumes a web service (service1.asmx) hosted on a machine
with IP (128.1.7.x) . The web service is located in the
intranet.
The web methods can be invoked successfully
if "WebApplication1" is located in machines with the same
subnet (128.1.7.x).
However, it fails if "WebApplication1" is hosted on

Fairly new to ASP.NET 1.1. Getting the error below when running
application on a web server outside of my control, but only the first
time I run it:
1. After a long period of inactivity (or updating the code-behind dll)
accessing any aspx page in the application causes the application
to run for the first time. Some of the initialization involves
reading and writing some text and xml files using simple streamreader
and streamwriter...

I have read several things that state accessing a Web Service through a
Query String should work. However, when I try to execute
http://localhost/webservice1/service1.asmx/HelloWorld I get the error below.
Can I access a Web Service through a Query Sting. I need to send XML to a
Flash movie using a Web Service.
Thank You,
Jim Lewis

Hi,
when accessing a secured 3rd party webservice i'm getting a 401 HTTP Statuscode (unauthorized). When entering the url in
a browser and entering the username and password manually, the wsdl is returned. So the username and password should
be ok.
I'm using this code:
Merchant myMerch = new Merchant();
myMerch.merchantIdentifier=merchantId;

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
