Hi,
I have a little problem with encoding. Was hoping maybe anyone can
help me to solve it.
There is some amount of data in a database (PG) that must be inserted
into Excel sheet and emailed. Nothing special, everything works.
Except that non-ascii characters are not displayed properly.
The data is stored as XML into a text field. When I use pgsql it's
displayed good in the terminal. Now I run my script and print data

I ran into this Microsoft Patterns & Practices Enterprise Library while i
was researching how i can write a database independent data access layer. In
my company we already use Data Access Application Block (DAAB) in our .Net
projects. We use SqlHelper in SQL based projects, and OracleHelper in Oracle
based ones. OracleHelper was not published officially by Microsoft as part of
the DAAB but it was given as a helper code in a sample .Net...

I run a MySQL Server (v. 4.1.5-gamma) from a binary distribution on a
SuSE 7.0 Linux. The default character set for the server is utf8 (runs
with the flag --default-character-set=utf8). The utf-8 encoded databases
I have seem to work fine. But I want to create another database with
greek (iso-8859-7) encoding from a dump from a 3.23.X server with
default character set "greek". Is this possible?
When I try to feed the dump into my server...

Dear friends,
First pls accept my apologies, because I am a new Postgres user, so my
questions could be silly.
We need to setup a database using UTF-8 encoding, however, by some way, we
have to express our need for right Greek character collation order.
I tried the default installation using pginstaller, then I created a db
(using pgAdminIII) using UTF-8, but still the collation is wrong (=wrong
upper() and "order by") for Greek...

Hi,
I have written a Web Service for a customer which expects a SOAP message
with Document/Literal encoding, and uses
RoutingStyle=SoapServiceRoutingStyle.RequestElement to route the SOAP body
message to my Web Method. The Web Method expects a string as its parameter
and then feeds that string to an XML deserializer which maps the XML
elements contained within the string to my custom objects, then performs an
insert/update on an SQL...

Hi all,
I'm having trouble trying to enter/retrieve Greek characters.
I have an astronomical dbase in MySQL. As you may know, lots of sky objects have Greek letter names (alpha Centauri, etc) but I want to enter these - and have the user see them - as the actual greek characters. Copying and pasting from character map doesn't work (if I copy the greek letter gamma, when I paste it into the field in PHPMyAdmin it comes out as "g" and likewise...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
