Hi all,
I am not sure that I am posting this in the right group but here it goes anyway. I am new to socket programming and I have been searching on the internet to the questions I am about to pose but have been unsuccessful in finding the answers so far. Either because my understanding of sockets isn't where it needs to be or my questions are too basic.
My programming environment is Windows XP, Visual Studio .NET 2003 and C#.
So here it...

Hi,
In the past I created a VB6 application that was capable of accepting
multiple client connections for status logging over the internet using
simple non-Windows clients (GSM/GPRS). There is one management
console/monitor that receives messages and keeps track of keep-alive
polling. The monitor created a new WinSock connection for each client that
logged on. These were put into an array of controls. I'm sure this can also
be done with...

Hello,
I have a quite specific problem, and after half a day spent with
Google, still no solid answer.
The task:
I have to write a C# class Library ( DLL ) to handle TCP socket
communication. It will be called by a multithreaded server application
to send some data to an another server ( which is a linux server ).

Hi,
The reason is that my application does about 16 connects and data
transfers per second, to the same 16 remote hosts. After approx 200 secs
there are 4000 sockets waiting to be garbage collected by the OS. At
this point is seems that connect loops and starts using the same local
addresses it used 4000 connections ago, resulting in an "Address already
in use" exception.
A possible solution to this would be to keep the connection to...

Using: .Net Compact Framework 2, Windows Mobile 5 (Pocket PC)
I'm trying to upload a large binary file in chuncks over a socket (as a
multipart mime message). This is how I'm trying to accomplish this, but
it somehow doesn't work:
================================================
Socket s = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream,
ProtocolType.Tcp);
IPAddress ipa = Dns.GetHostEntry("www.blablabla.com").AddressList;

We have a C# windows mobile form application designed for PockedtPC 2003 developed in VS2003.NET with .NET 1.0/1.1.
Some of the mobile devices have been replaced with Windows Mobile 5.0.
As a result we have re-built the application in VS2005 with .NET 2.0.
We can deploy the application to the mobile device OK via active-synch.
However as our mobile devices are widely distributed the normal way of loading the application is to FTP...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
