Custom resource providers: as simple as they seem?

I should write a custom resource provider that should do something
simple: return the resource key together with the textual value in one
string. I started delving into this subject. The online examples I've
seen implement IResourceProvid er but I can't get any clear idea to how
actually access the default resource provider (the resources are in
App_GlobalResou rces) giving the same interface to the callers.

(Using ASP.NET 2.0)

Any ideas?
Thanks,
J.

Hi, Jimmy

I have looked through the System.Web.dll with Reflector, and it seems you
can't retrieve default implemenation for IResourceProvid er. This interface
used by framework itself only.

Any way, if you'll find solution - let me know :-)

Thanks. Simply use the "default" resource provider, that worked for me.

Hi, is it possible to implement custom resource managers for ASP.NET 2.0 so that strings can be read from a database (for example)? Ideally, it should be possible to configure the custom resource manager in web.config, so that it replaces the default resource manager. Using the <%$ ... %> syntax should read the strings via the custom resource manager, e.g. when used like this:

Hi. I added a custom resource file (.resx) to my application. I can successfuly edit the resource file to add strings, but how can I add a bitmap to this file? I know that I can add the bitmap to my project and select the build action 'embedded resource'.This works, but is this the only way to add a bitmap to an assembly?

G'Day, I'm in the process of developing a custom ResourceProvider for an ASP.Net web application written in C# 2.0, which uses SQL server as the data store. I'm half way there! After setting the key for the resource provider in the web.config to the custom provider, view a page in the VS ide in design mode, choose tools/create resources for page, the custom resource provider is fired up and the resources are stored in a SQL table. ...

I am making use of the Provider model to create custom logic providers for an in house winform application. I have my own provider consumer that is responsible for loading the proper provider and delegating the methods back to the provider. The provider consumer also handles events raised from the provider. The problem that I'm having is the events are not being established properly within the providers to the provider consumer..

I have written two custom providers for our Oracle 9i database...a Membershp provider and a Role provider. I've been testing these over the last few days and they seem to be working well. However, when I try to use the ASP.NET 2.0 Web Site Administration Tool in VS 2005, I get an error when I click on the "Create User" link. On the tool's Provider tab, I _have_ selected to use my custom providers! Also, I do not seem to have a problem...

anydbm and dictionary{} seem like they both have a single key and key value. Can't you put more information into a DBM file or link tables? I just don't see the benefit except for the persistent storage. d= dbm.open('c:\\temp\\mydb.dat','n') It has the following interface (key and data are strings): d = data # store data at key (may override data at

I have developed a simple membershipuser class and membershipprovider class. I basically followed the procedures referenced at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/44w5aswa.aspx and made it even simpler by inheriting sqlmembershipprovider, and did overrides on only a couple of methods. So far, they seem to work fine when used in code. However, I tried using the web site administration tool to edit a user and received the error below. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
