matching symbolic information found.
Loaded 'ntdll.dll', no matching symbolic information found.

This seems to indicate that you are running a debug build, but VC cannot
find symbolic information. did you change your debug settings?
Does this also happen in other projects?

You get these warnings because you didn't install the OS symbols.
This is harmless unless you want to track down a problem inside the system
APIs, or if you want to follow the stack trace into the system.
Normally it should find the MFC debug information I think, but perhaps you
did not install MFC completely?

Right from the time the first edition of K&R was released, the
advantages of using symbolic constants, as opposed to "magic numbers",
has been emphasized ---- and for good reason. I don't dispute that at
all. However, it gets on my nerves when people carry this practice
too far. Consider these examples (from the code written by a
distinguished colleague):
#define DASH '-'
#define SLASH '/'
#define SINGLE_BYTE 1

Hello!
I would like to introduce a keyboard shortcut for refreshing the user
interface in many programs. In english locales it's often F5 which is used,
but how about other locales and/or preferences. Should I simply bind the
refresh feature to F5 or is there a symbolic Shortcut for refreshment?
Comment: I think there must be symbolic key, because my IBM ThinkPad A31p
has a refresh button which refreshes in Internet Explorer, but it...

i have a python program which attempts to call 'cls' but fails:
sh: line 1: cls: command not found
i tried creating an alias from cls to clear in .profile, .cshrc, and
/etc/profile, but none of these options seem to work.
my conclusion is that a python program that is executing does not use
the shell (because it does not recognize shell aliases). is this
correct?

Hi,
I've done this before so I don't see what I could doing wrong here.
I'm running mysql 5x on freebsd. I'm using the default data directory
of "/var/db/mysql"
In there I have several dozen mysql datasbases that are functioning
perfectly. I am trying to add a database which will be stored on a
different drive, therefore the entry in "/var/db/mysql" should be a
symbolic link

Hi all,
There are a number of free tools for image matching but it's not very
easy to decipher the actual algorithm from the code that includes db
management, GUI, etc, etc. I have my own image database and GUI so all
I need is the actual algorithm preferably in pseudo code and not in
the form of a research paper (from which I also found a lot but since
I'm not that much interested in the actual science of image
recognition this seems...

*** I posted this on comp.lang.c++.moderated a couple days ago, and

certainly not inappropriate, and an email from...

Hi,
I've developed a MFC program under VS 6.0. My debugger *was* working fine and I've used it often for my project. Then, one day, the errors below appear and they prevent me from using the debugger. I know that I get these warnings because the OS symbols arn't installed (a few of them loaded fine).
As far as I can remember, I didn't touch anything that should mess with the debugger so I don't know how to fix it and I need to be able to...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
