I am trying to write one.
Are there any tools that I need to use to write it?(may be mapPoint?)
I think that there are two ways to write the appication:
1. Having database of all my dealers, each with latitude and longtitude.
When the customer eneters his zip code, then I need to calculate how many
dealers are in that area. I am trying to find some hints or script.
2. Having database of all my dealers. One table will have the dealers,...

I am using VS.NET 2003 and trying to deploy a service program(c++) to a Windows 2000 Server system. I have also written a small DLL (USSsetup.dll) that is used to start/stop the service using a custom action. This dll is apparently dependent on the MSVCP71.DLL and MSVCR71.DLL's as per the Detected Dependencies folder visible in the deployment project
All this good except I am UNABLE to Retarget the output of the msm merge...

Sorry if this difficult to understand but I'm pulling my hair out and could
do with some good ideas please...
I've developed an application which in .NET as a Windows service which is
simply crashing but with no signs/details on where the crash is occuring.
Please not that the crash is happening on the server and only when the
server is running on a Win2K3 host. App is developed as an N-Tier app
(client-processing-processing-data) with...

I regularly (every week) fly for work.
To do this at the moment, I have to manually check the website of the
couriers I use (Primarily Easyjet, BA, BMI).
This is a repetitive task which takes quite a lot of time, so I was thinking
about automating it.
Basically, I need to collect the prices of flights on dates I specify in
order to work out which flights best suit my needs.

I've reinstalled my Windows 2003 server and VS2003 without much luck on
finding this ASP.NET account. Using IIS 6.0.
My c# application requires access to read a file (C:\\Test.jpg) from the
file system.
Got the following error:

General access denied error

Hi,
I am helping to build a web app that's pretty much a wrapper around a web
service. The question now is how to store the handle of the web service
object between requests. My client is using SQL server for session state so
I don't think I can store the web service handle there since it's not
serializable.
Opening up a connection to this particular service is quite slow so I don't
want to reopen it for every request.

but on my local machine
in which i have vis studio 2003 installed and IIS for win XP,
I copied the web.config file from the source code folder into the
inetpub\wwwroot folder b/c that is where the ASP engine was looking for it.

I'd like to open a discussion about the state of the industry. For the
past year, I've been unable to find competent Access developers
available for hire. I'm worried about that.
I think there's great demand right now, and that's keeping the good
developers busy, but that's not enough to explain the situation.
Whenever I post an Access job, I get lots of responses from .NET
developers, back-end database people, and web developers. They...

Hi,
In a typical 3 tier model (view layer, busines layer and data access
layer) where do you handle your exceptions? do you let it buble up all
the way to the .aspx pages or do you handle it in your business layer
and/or data access layer?
suppose in my data access layer, I provide try and catch, log the
exception and re-throw it back to business layer, then in yoru business
layer, what do you do? throw it back to the code behind or...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
