Conditional serialization?

I have defined the following property within a class:

<XmlElement(Ele mentName:="qtyo nhand")_
Public Property Quantity() As Integer
Get
Return _quantity
End Get
Set(ByVal value As Integer)
_quantity = value
End Set
End Property
The serialization works just fine. But I would like to modify it just a
little. If the quantity is not specified (if the _quantity is zero) then
rather than serializing this as: <qtyonhand>0</qtyonhand>, I would like to
either have the element not appear or serialized as <qtyonhand/>. Is this
possible to intercept the serialization process?

Thank you.

Hello, I've been just investigating IE conditional comments - hiding things from non-IE/Win browsers is easy, but I wanted to know, if it's possible to hide code from IE/Win browsers. I found <!> in the original MSDN documentation, but this is (although it is working) unfortunately non-validating gibberish. So I fooled around trying to find a way to make it valid. And voila: <!--><!><!-->

I have an class (A) that contains an class (B1) of type (B). An class (C), contained by class (A), contains its own class (B2) of type (B). When I want to serialize class (A), I want to ignore, programmatically, certain properties on class (B1), BUT, I want those same properties to not be ignored when it serializes class (B2) via serializing class (C). I've set up an XmlAttributeOverride with an XmlAttribute that has the XmlIgnore flag...

Hello newsgroup I'm using XML serialization controlled over attributes to serialize a couple of simple hierarchical objects into XML. My problem is, that I have a couple of elements within the object tree to be serialized that might be excluded from serialization depending on their state. Therefore, I need to include some kind of inspection into the serialization process:

I'm having trouble testing a custom object. I've tried many different approaches. One is shown below. The XML below shows the state of the object and I'm trying to test for that state, ie there are NO classes in the Classes collection (Classes) of the custom object. The conditional expression returns the error shown below it... =======================================================XML returned by

Hello, I hope this is the right place to post a question on Boost. If not, please let me know where I can post this message and I will do so. I am having a strange problem with std::string as I am trying to read from a binary archive using Boost serialization. I am new to this, and it is possible that I have not understood the usage. In the code below, the string "faultblock" seems to be causing the problem. The code crashes in the ia...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
