We have a large application (the Exe is about 10 mb Released) built as a C++ unmanaged Solution under Vs2003. This App is targeted for Win2000. The latest Service Pack for Windows 2000 has presented us with some problems. Because we are an ISO 9000 company supplying software to the drug industry we have strict requirements on the need for retesting when any changes may effect the behavior of our software.

Say I've written a class that wraps around a particular (complex) communication service library. I want to unit test objects that use that communication service. Is the "best practice" to create a Communication_Service abstract base class that my Concrete_Communication_Service and my Mock_Communication_Service both inherit from? (and then use the mock service when unit testing)

Hey there, I have a number of web services that interact with each other ( send requests to each other etc ). I would like to test the interaction between them ? Does anyone have any ideas as to how I would go about doing that ? Some thing along the lines of having them running and be able to test the messages being sent across Thanks

Hi list. What strategies do you use to ensure correctness of new code? Specifically, if you've just written 100 new lines of Python code, then: 1) How do you test the new code? 2) How do you ensure that the code will work correctly in the future? Short version:

This is my first WCF service and it is running on my development machine (XP Pro SP2) under IIS, I am using wsHttpBinding. (I will eventually put it onto a Windows 2003 Server running under IIS on the server as an Intranet application). The strange is I've stepped through the code in the WCF service, it makes the call to the SQL Server database, it retrieves the data and puts it into the DataTable object, and then I close the connection and...

Hopefully a service like this already exists and I just haven't found it yet. If not it could be an idea for some kind soul(s) to pick up and run with ;-) As someone who writes and releases Python modules for the community, I find it difficult to have a decent level of confidence in the efficacy of my code on platforms and Python versions other than those that I own or use regularly. My documentation states that I support Python 2.3 or...

Hei, I have a web service with web methods that take nullable DateTime parameters (i.e., DateTime?) When i open the service in IE7, I get the message that those methods cannot be viewed ("not primitive types"); the other web methods can be invoked without problems. Any suggestions on how I can change IE7 settings or something else? Kind regards, Tom Pederen

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
