Assembly manifest mismtach - Visual Basic & C# DLL

I have a visual basic 6.0 application that references a strong named C#
DLLs. I have been getting the error "The located assembly's manifest
definition with name <XXXdoes not match the assembly reference". I
checked the references in the VB project file and they are pointing to
the correct tlb file (full path). I do not compile the C# DLLs, but I
did create the tlb files and register them in the GAC. The VB app used
to be working just fine, I don't understand what could possibly cause
this problem.

I used fuslogvw and it's showing I am referencing a different version
of the C# DLL. How and where can I locate the OLD dll indicated in the
FUSLOGVW log?

Instead of posting a problem, I will post a solution to a problem that I've seen posted many times. One which I just hit and solved. I've been using signed assemblies (have to... they are called by Biztalk over a COM Interop layer). Along the way, I changed one of the assemblies that my system depends on, and started getting the following error: General Information

Hi I have an application that tries to load another assembly. When it tries I get the following error message: "Additional information: The located assembly's manifest definition with name does not match the assembly reference." Can anyone think of any obvious reasons why this error is occurring. I've used ildasm.exe to check the manifest but can't see any obvious problems.

Hi All, Can anybody point me to some documentation about assembly manifest files. I've seen them used is WinForms applications to enable visual styles. I'm more interested in what happens behind the scenes when you declare a manifest file. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

For example, how do I prevent the following function from appearing in the assembly manifest? #pragma unmanaged void Fn() { int a = 1; } It is a large port, so transforming these global functions to statics of newly defined classes would be quit a effort.

I have a VB application referencing some C# dlls. Got new set of C# dll assemblies, now kept getting errors when I run my VB application. There were errors like assmbly reference mismatch. Also in debug mode, it errored at New or CreateObject of the referenced COM object. I have checked GAC and it looked good. I guess what I am asking is what I need to do when I get a new build of assemblies that my VB application is referencing to...

Hi All! I'm working on putting together our build process and incremental updates. I understand the way AssemblyVersion works but I'm not too clear as to how I can do incremental updates to the application. For example: MyApplication.exe uses MyDllA.dll, MyDllB.dll and MyDllC.dll. All their versions are written to the manifest for MyApplication.exe. What happens if I need to fix a bug in MyDLLB.dll? Isn't the entire solution rebuilt...

We are having a lot of trouble with problems relating to failures relating to 'The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'xxx' does not match the assembly reference" but none of us here really understand how this could be an issue. The assemblies that the system is complaining about are ones that we build here and we're not changing version numbers on anything. The errors come and go with no apparent rhyme or reason. We do not...

If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it: I have an assembly into which I have linked a manifest file as a Win32 resource. This is necessary since I want to use a class in this assembly with registration-free COM interop from a Win32 application. I also want to use this assembly with a .Net application that I want to deploy using ClickOnce. However when I try to install the application from the deployment location I get...

I'm trying to deploy an application having a couple of dlls. One of those 2 dll's makes user of MSCV80(d).dll, namely the latest version (the one with Visual Studio SP1, version 8.0.50727.762). The problem is that the correct dll does not normally exist on a win XP or server 2003 system unless you install Visual Studio and subsequently the service pack. I can't think of requiring users to do that (they'll just laugh at me then go get...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
