In order to get the records I want on a report I sometimes create a
SQL string for the RecordSource and sometimes supply the criteria
using the Filter Property. If I use the Filter Property rather than a
RecordSource returning just the values I want is there extra traffic
across the network to bring the unfiltered data to the front end?
Thanks,

Dear Readers,
This is my first post to this group. I was pointed to this group in a
other vb group, so i have better luck here!
For my learning curve of VB .NET i want to make a traffic simulation
program. Before i start programming, i need to know if there even is a
possibility to make a algorithm in VB .NET that is able to let traffic
drive and making the lights go green, orange or red.

Hello All.
If I where to capture network traffic, dropping packets and modifying
packets. I.e write firewall functionality. Which API or SDK would be the
correct choice? I would prefer to do it in .net.
Do I have to use the DDK package or is there any other way?
Im quite lost here.

I am curious about how Access 2000 handles network requests for data.
I have the data on a back-end server, and the front-end is installed
on the local machine. Now, lets say I have a select query ( call it
qry1) which has no filters and just displays all the records in the
table, and another query (qry2) which has a filter. Both are queries
on the same table of 5000 rows. If the qry2 filter matches only 1000
of the rows, is network...

We need to build an application which blocks network traffic in the
client computer of any application other than 1 we want, and also that
we can limit the amount of data transmission to a certain bandwith like
32k.
I know this might sound harsh on the user and stuff like that, but this
will be a corporate application used to control traffic of the user
when using certain other corporate applications.
So the thing is, how do we go...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
