client of server install?

2 New Member
Hi
In our previous vb6 apps installed on clients by installing program files on the server and simply creating shortcuts to the main program fille on the workstations.

In vb.net is this the best way to do it or is it now better to install the app folder on each workstation and simply point to the server for data?

Would be interested on what you fellows think

Thanks in advance

I've attempted to upgrade to MySQL 3.23 to 4.0. MySQL 4.0 server is working great, buy I couldn't get MySQL 4.0 client to install properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are the steps I followed: 1. Downloaded the server, client, and "Dynamic client libraries (including 3.23.x libraries)" rpms. 2. rpm -Uvh --nodeps MySQL-server-4.0.20-0.i386.rpm

Hi, This might seem like a basic question but I have some doubts, please humour me. I have a client-server application using java where each client on each machine needs to directly communicate directly with the database. Do I need a separate db2 connect on each such machine. Please advice.

I will keep a copy of the applicaiton and all it's code on one of the client machines connected to the local area network at the customers. This machine has a full blown copy of Visual Studio 2003. SQL Server 2000 is the back-end, both at my office...

Hi, I am a newbee. All our applications so far were traditional client-server database applications. We are considering now writing our main application with Visual Studio .NET. Basically we want to be able to install each version of our software on one or two machines without having to meddle with typically several hundred client computers. We understand that using the new architecture we write server side code in C# or Visual Basic,...

Helpful folks, We recently upgraded DB2 V7 to V8 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition. The plan is to migrate to V9 as soon as possible. In anticipation of that migration, IT management has decided that all our user desktop workstations (a few hundred) should be upgraded to the V9 runtime client before we migrate the server to V9. This upgrade process will be automated using a response file. Our authentication model is set to CLIENT at...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
