Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to make changes to
an application's App.config file at runtime and then be able to access
those changes immediately.
The following is an example of what I'm trying to achieve:
I tried a test by creating a simple app Test.exe that has some basic
settings made available to it in the runtime file Test.exe.config.

I am writing a .Net web application that needs to save some state
information across web pages. I'm using Session.Item("<item name>") = <item
state> calls in my VB code so save the session information. It all works
fine on my development machine (XP Pro), but the session information seems
to be getting lost when I deploy and run the application onto the server.
The session state info in the web.config file is the default (InProc).
What...

Hi,
I originally posted this as a reply to a rather old thread in
dotnet.framework.general and didn't get any response. I thought it might be
more relevant here; anyone got any ideas? My questions are below...

I am building an SVG interface (with Javascript) for client side control
of some hardware. The svg will be hosted on a micro PC
(http://www.picotux.com/indexe.html). It runs a uClinux OS with GCC 3.4.4
for C++ (and Fortran??) and a Web Server and Telnet and not much more.
My SVG seems to be working fine and using Firefox's DOM browser I can see
it change. What I can't do is find a way to capture these DOM state
changes. All I need is to...

Hi, all.
This might be a silly question... but I am very new to programming in
SQL so please bear with me :)
So. I'm using MS SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express. I have a
table that was created via an existing .sql file. Included were a
bunch of stored procedures. I went in to re-format these procedures.
(They were written in haste by another programmer. It is my task to go
back and improve their readabilities.) However, I am...

I was investigating a function to determine whether daylight saving
was being observed on a particular date (given the platform's regional
settings) and came across a suggestion at merlyn.com to test the time
zone offset on a variety of dates to see if it changes. Based on
that, I developed the following checkDST() function which, as far as I
can tell, should be sufficient.
It checks either the date passed to it or the current date with...

I'm trying to manipulae my app.config file. Below is code to test that I can
remove a ConfigurationSection. It looks like its working, but the app.config
file is not changed when I look at it after.
I think it has something to do with the file path; the .FilePath returned
<C:\Projects\MyProject\src\Core.Tests\bin\Debug\MyProject.Core.Tests.dll.temp.config>
isn't app.config but I've seen a couple of places that say that...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
