In my Windows application, the main Form (Form_Main) calls a small Form
(Form_X) that checks a file. Basically, I pass the name of the file through
frmX's constructor and then I display it with ShowDialog(). In the
constructor, I call the method that runs the validation process. Is it
possible that, once this process (which returns a bool) is finished, that it

determine whether you are using a "legal" copy (NOT a copy, because that
would be illegal) of XP. I am wondering WHY they did this (money - duh) and
how it will affect bootlegged copy users, unknowing or otherwise. They say

I tried to download windows defender (since it just came out of beta)
I have wondows defender beta version.
To download the active x would not work so I had to try the alternative

i have bought a copy of windows xp professional in pack it contained 1 cd 1
cd-key and a windows exp booklet all look to be correct and of an original
state it has updated for over 9 months without problems now windows genuine
validation software says there is an error in validating the copy and wont
allow any updates and keeps inerupting any programs that are running
i am wondering if its a
software error and re installing will correct...

I got a Windows XP update yesterday and it 'failed' three times so far to
install - Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.
Anyone knows what this is, why it won't install, or if I really need it?
A friend also gave me a seven year old Dell 4100 running XP Pro. It actually
dual boots to Win 2000 Pro also. That won't install Win XP SP 2 because this
copy of the OS "may not be valid". C'mon, this machine's been sitting in a
garage...
