Convert XML Encoding

I have a situation where I am receiving an XML document from a Korean client. They have encoding="EUC-KR" in the XML declaration. This XML file will be placed into a SQL 2005 table with an XML datatype column. I have found that the XML in SQL stores all data as UTF-16. Does anyone know an easy way to programmaticall y convert my incoming XML into UTF-16? I have to maintain the foreign characters within the document. I have found that I can open the file in XML-SPY and change the encoding and save it and it works but we will be getting hundreds of these documents and that is not feasible.

Thanks,

Matt

Unix systems have the iconv command which converts files from one
encoding to another. Maybe this exists somewhere for Windows. If not,
a recursive identity transform in XSLT with the output encoding set to
UTF-16 will do this, assuming your XSLT processor supports EUC-KR for
input.

I have a file which has no BOM and contains mostly single byte chars. There are numerous double byte chars (Japanese) which appear throughout. I need to take the resulting Unicode and store it in a DB and display it onscreen. No matter which way I open the file, convert it to Unicode/leave it as is or what ever, I see all single bytes ok, but double bytes become 2 seperate single bytes. Surely there is an easy way to convert these mixed...

I tried to convert a block of text from iso-8859-1 to utf-8 but all I got after the convertion is gibberish. =============================== FileStream fs = File.Open("text.txt", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); byte b = new byte; fs.Read(b, 0, length); b = Encoding.Convert(Encoding.GetEncoding(28591), Encoding.UTF8, b);

Hi, I have text from mime email messages with different encoding that I want to convert to utf-8, but I'm relatively new on encoding problems. I use the following code, but this doesn't seem to work (the in and output remains the same): string x=toUTF8("=?GB2312?B?s8q5q8u+vq3A7aGissbO8bK/w8W1xNK7t+LQxQ==?=","GB2312");

Hi I have a string, which I must convert into another string and have it utf-8 encoded. My current code looks like this; Both vDataIn and vDataOut are Objects (parameters to a function-call), and vDataIn contains a string, and that is also what vDataOut must contain when I am done.

My Friends: I am using std::ofstream (as well as ifstream), I hope that when i wrote in some std::string(...) with locale, ofstream can convert to UTF-8 encoding and save file to disk. So does ifstream. Something I found shows that, I need to have a proper codecvt to set it. I need more information, maybe a small piece of code sample. Thank you!

Hi This is going to be a question for anyone who is an expert in C# Text Encoding. My situation is this: I have a Sybase database which is firing back ISO-8559 encoded strings. I am unable to get the db to translate to UTF-8 for non technical reasons. So I have a string coming back with the character œ (ISO value 156). this character appears in .NET as a box character because 156 is not a valid Unicode character value. I have been...

Hi all, I'm looking for the fastest way to convert an array of bytes to String. I also need to convert a String back to its original Byte() representation. Convert.ToBase64String and Convert.FromBase64String seem like the closest thing I can find to what I'm looking for baked into the base class library. Can anyone suggest a better way to do this? TIA - Bob

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
