Ok. I want to settle this once and for all. After looking at the source
for various, rather sizeable (but not all were so big) web sites that
use icons that show up in the addressbar beside the address itself.
Just about all websites that use said icons use one of these two methods
(some use both even) to make them appear (in the code of a webpage.) :
<LINK REL="icon" HREF="/icon.ico" TYPE="image/ico">
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON"...

I was wondering how I can programmatically find out the path of an installed
program. I have an application that needs access to a config file that
resides in the folder of another application. I'm guessing that this can be
done by accessing the registry, but some articles or sample code would be
useful.
Thanks.

Does anyone know where I can find some professional looking icons that are
the standard windows collection for developers? The ones that came on the
VS cd are pretty lame. Thanks

Hi,
Say a form, a MDI Container, called frmMain; another form frmLanguage
allowing me to change the User Interface Language. Changing the
language works fine when I quit the application and comes back. I would
like to make that more user friendly.
The code in frmLanguage where I am changing the Language.

I'd like references on where to find some good (quality) icons to use for
form and application icons (for the EXE). Most of the free stuff isn't that
great looking and there isn't a good selection. A site offering previews of
icons or purchase of a single icon would be nice.
Thanks,
Brett

A system stored procedure got accidentally deleted, and all backups are
since the stored procedure was deleted (wonderful!)
Can the SQL for the stored procedure be extracted from another server
and loaded as opposed to removing everything and then rebuilding the
server?
Thanks in advance!

i'm trying to embed multiple program icons in my executable. the only
way so far i managed to do that is to embed native win32 resource file
with multiple icons. it works, but... when i create a native win32
resource file with the VS 2005 and put there my icons, VS always
converts some of the 32bit icons into 24bit - so i loose alpha blending
what makes my icons look ugly.
I did an experiment and created a icon file with full range of...

I have a form that connects to a database.
When the form loads if it can not connect to the database (connection info
stored in registry) it opens a 2nd form that
asks for set up information. Once the setup is complete I need to re run the
first form to collect the
new values from the registry.
How can I reload the first form?
I have tried refresh but this does not seem to work.
Thanks

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
