TextBox Validated Event Missing

Dear all,

I have deployed my windows application to several user PCs with XP and
Win2000. However, there is something strange that ONE of the TextBox
Validated event doesn’t fire in ONE of the PC. Basically, the service pack
and the .Net framework are same. I could not find out what cause the problem
from that PC. Does anyone has such experience before and tell me why and how
to solve it?

Thanks for any help!

are you 100% sure that the first line of code is not getting executed....
you could put simple line of code like a messagebox and see if that gets
shown, if it does... then you can take it from there to see which line
breaks.. if you nailed down which line it breaks, then we can take it from
there and see what is the breaking situation

When a user changes the text in a textbox i wish to update the registry key it represents. If I use event TextChanged event then as you type every character in your update the registry routines are called. If I use Validated Event then if you click on the text box or tab past it and not change the text the registry is refreshed. Is there an event that represents "I have changed this text and I have finished changing it now". (Apart from a...

After a user enters data into a field, I need to populate other controls on the form, based on the user entry. I have to use either Leave, Validating or Validated, and I take it I can't use LostFocus because there is no selection for that event in the dropdown list on the code page. What's happening is that all 3 events mentioned above for the textbox control fire in the proper order when the form is invoked, but don't fire the first time...

Hello: I'm using the validating event on a text boxes to test for valid dates, doubles, etc. The problem is that if the field is not required and a blank value is OK and the user deletes a previous non-blank value, the validaing event keeps putting the non-blank value back in the text box and doesn't allow the blank value. Is this unavoidable in the built-in validating event and do I need just to write my own validation event?

I have a simple form with one button and one text box. In the Form, I create an array list to track the events by adding a descriptive string item to the arraylist in each event. I first Click on the Button then Click on the TextBox and enter an "a" then click on the Button again. The following is what I get for the event tracking Arraylist: but - GotFocus but - Clicked but - LostFocus txt - Changed

I have a GridView using Template columns. In my EditItemTemplate I am using CompareValidators to check data types. When validation fails, I would like to change the border of the textbox in question. I thought I could loop through the ValidatorCollection during the RowUpdating event but couldn't get the reference to the textbox. When I made an explicit reference to a textbox I got the message that this would need to be done in the...

I have a form w/ a textbox and Cancel button on it. I have a routine to handle textbox.validating, and I have the form setup so the Cancel button is the Cancel button. WHen the user clicks on the cancel button, the textbox.validating is being called. I don't want it to be since they are exiting the screen the validation doesn't have to be done. How can I do that.

Hi, In a .NET 2.0 winforms application, I've got a textbox that, when updated, uses the validated event to cascade the change to another textbox (along with another value). This works well if the user does indeed move the cursor to another textbox, but if the user clicks my "done" toolstripbutton after making a change in the textbox but without moving the cursor out, the validated event never fires. I have a pretty bad workaround where...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
