more questions about performance measurements in python. I solve the problems I had with shelf by not using it. I'm doing a direct pickle to and from file of an entire dictionary. That knocked off a good third of my CPU time. there was another big hit that that was quick and easy. I went from approximately 3.5 seconds down to .5 seconds CPU time.
The problem is, from hitting the submit button to new display, it is taking approximately 23...

Hi,
I'm new to WebServices, and I'm doing some tests (with a small
VB.NET-application) to know the performance-difference between a WebService
and the 'normal'-way of getting data (just connecting directly with a
SqlDataAdapter to the SQL Server). The WebMethod simply gives a DataSet
back, and does exactly the same actions as the normal-Method does.
The difference are enormous in my opinion:

Timeout Calling Web Service
I am calling a .NET 1.1 web service from an aspx page. The web service can
take several minutes to complete its tasks before returning a message to the
aspx page.
If the web service is taking a long time to complete, the aspx page returns
a ‘The operation has timed-out.’ Message to the web browser after 100 seconds.
I’ve added: <httpRuntime executionTimeout="300" /> to the web.config files

I have just started playing around with Web Services. I created a sample
Web Service and invoked a sample "Hello World" method call from my Win Forms
control running under an ASP.NET web page. The time it takes to return the
result seems a little bit much. It takes anywhere from 500 to 800
milliseconds to return a simple "Hello World" string message. This is even
running it on localhost. Is this normal for the request to take this...

at the time the code was written I included in the constructor an
initialization procedure that prepared the data for all the web service
methods.

clients are using it to synchronize some datas from clients database to web

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
