Hi,
I need to use the UniversalBrowserRead Privilege in a script. For this,
the script has to be signed, right? Can anyone help me with getting a
free certificate (I don't want to spend a lot of money for something I
do just for fun) and using it to sign a script in an external file
(loaded with the SRC attribute)? I'm working on a Linux...

I have a couple of questions around code signing with MS technology:
1. Is there a way to transfer the generated strong name signing private key
directly to a smartcard (or generate it on the smart card), without the
unsecure intermediate storage to the filesystem using sn -k and sn -i?
2. What is the format of the key files produced by sn...

I have several database applications developed in Access 2000. Some of my
users have upgraded to Access 2003, and they get a warning every time they
open the application: "This file may not be safe if it contains code that
was intended to harm your computer."
I understand that there are two ways to avoid this message. One is to set
the...

I am trying to deploy an application using ClickOnce. Everything is working
fine except one thing. During the initial install the user is prompted to
install the application from an "unknown publisher".
My assumption is that this happens because I've signed my ClickOnce manifest
with a temporary key, thus causing the client to not trust the...

Hello,
I have the Microsoft Authenticode certificates (PKCS #7 Certificates, .spc
and .pvk files) acquired from Verisign. How do I use this certificates to
Sign the manifest for ClickOnce deployment. IDE accepts only .pfx files.
Importing in Internet Explorer and exporting back doesn't seem like an
option. Any advice?

Sajan

<extreme frustration>
I have googled and read about this, but can't seem to get a grip on it.
Apparently I am being coerced into digitally signing applications. Is this
true? What if I don't want to?
The basic question is: If I click the "Create Test Certificate" button on
the Signing tab of the properties for my application so I can...

Introduction:
Macro Security Levels in MS Office applications are recommended to be set to High. This stops any VBA code associated with a project from running, unless it is signed (with a certificate). A trusted signature will allow the code to run normally, whereas an un-trusted one will prompt the user either to trust the issuing CA...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
