Hi, what is the correct way of converting contents of a <string> to
lowercase?
There are no methods of <string> class to do this so I fallback on
strlwr().
But the c_str() method returns a const pointer which cannot be used
with strlwr() as it does the conversion inplace. So, I use the
following logic of copying the contents to a dynamically allocated
char* array and then doing the conversion:

I've been coding a C# project in "pure code" and I would now want to import
it into VS.net. I have created a project and imported all sourcefiles and
it's compiling without problems, except for the resources. Before, I built
the program using a batchfile and linked the resources with the
"/resource:MainFrame.resX" option. Then I loaded them with this code:
Assembly myAssembly = Assembly.GetAssembly(this.GetType());
Stream resXStream =...

Hello,
Thanks ins advance for reading my message
Im trying to use many .resx files for different webforms when I try to the project the following error appears:
Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture (or the neutral culture) in the given assembly. Make sure "Site.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "Site". baseName: Site locationInfo: <null> resource file name: Site.resources assembly:...

after.
Several resource-files I compile with resgen.exe and put the files into a

With al.exe I generating several dlls with the format
applicationname.resource.dll (in every language-folders one dll)

I have a project where I need to create a windows .exe by compiling code and
linking in some resources. This program thats being generated is somewhat
unconventional, and I'll explain how. I'm generating a very simple installer
app that embeds referenced .dll files inside it, which are extracted and
referenced when the installer app is executed. This works great when the
installer app is built with Visual Studio .NET, but it does not work...

Hi,
Sorry to repost, but this is becoming aggravating, and causing me a lot of
wasted time. I've got a reasonably large mixed C++ project, and after a
number of builds (but not a constant number) linking (and sometimes
compiling) becomes immensely slow, and task manager shows that link.exe (or
cl.exe) is barely using any processor time, but an awful lot of RAM (around
150-200MB). I'm going to keep an eye on page faults since I can't...

Hi!
I'm writing an app supporting different languages. I store error messages
in a string resource files for each language. The resource files are added
to
the project. My problem is that I have to use the assembly linker (AL) to
link my string resources to the app.resources.dll file. Can't this be done
automaticly when compiling the application in Visual studio 2003?
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I implemented a basic client application. It communicates with server and works properly. Building processes succeed just by giving the following warning:
LINK : D:\DOC\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\Client01\Debug/Client01.exe not found or not built by the last incremental link; performing full link
This warning occurs when building/rebuilding the project after cleaning the intermediate and output files. If the project is once...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
