I'm a recent user of Visual Studio 2005, but I'm familiar with Visual Studio
2003. One of the things I'm wrestling with is the new configuration
paradigm under VS2005 (.NET 2.0?). I'm using C#.
I'm somewhat familiar with the old-style usage of
Configuration.AppSetting, but I'm told that is deprecated and
the usage is now through ConfigurationManager. After making sure I was

Hello,
I asked a similar question yesterday with no responces.
I want to read and write to a configuration file with user
settings.(Windows App)
Are there any good books, or sites that explain
Properties.Settings.Default and such.
Or am I supposed to be using the Configuration classes?
When you decide to use the app.config you end up with
Settings.Settings,Settings.designer,app.config.....
I want to learn how these operate together.

Hi all,
This post is sort of tangentially related to my earlier posts on
configuration files for DLLs.
Does anyone know how to create typed DataSets using VS2005's new DataSet
designer, but with the ability to configure the connection string via a
config file? The designer seems to hard-code the connection string into the
dataset itself, which just can't be right.

I have a problem where our app when compiled in VS2005 runs about 50%
the speed it attains in VS2003. This is an unmanaged C++ app.
I have tried most combinations of the optimization and language settings
with little change in run speed.
I compared the generated native code in various places in the code and
noticed two things.

Changing a setting in the UserSettings from within my app using code (Vs2005
vb.net) does not seem to persist changes to the myapp.exe.config file what
is the location and name of the file where the usersettings are persisted?
Is there any way to have modifications made in code to application level
settings? The my.settings in VS2005 and vb.net 2005 does not permit
application level settings to be modified in code cause the geniuses at MS...

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
