Building for Release is still creating a debug symbol file in 2005

Hi,

Did this change in Visual Studio 2005? Visual Studio 2003 didn't create a
debug symbol file once the solution and project were changed to be built for
release.
I did notice the same difficult problem in 2005 that was in 2003 and that is
getting the build for Release properties to stick on the solution and
project.

In my project I have verified that both the solution and project are set to
build for Release and yet it is still creating a debug symbol file.

Thanks!

I have been trying to use the new Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 with the VC6 IDE I set up the executable, inlcude, and library directories to point to the new compilers I had to fix a few errors in the MFC6 <afxtempl.h> to get it to compile with the better standards confomance (mainly omitted typename, and lazyness with specialized templates - using BASE_CLASS & TYPE instead of CObList & CObList*) Now I get some strange linker errors, and I don't...

Hi I'm about to upload my site and I have switched to release version. Is that enough or do I still need to disable <compilation defaultLanguage="vb" debug="true" /> the debug="true" in the .pdb file? Is the .pdb necessary for the release version? Thanks a bunch. Dara

I have a project that I normally build (without problems) from the DevStudio IDE. However, I have embarked on automating all my builds (this test project being one of several). The project creates a DLL. I am able to build the project without any probs in the IDE, however - when I build the project from the command line (using the same options shown in the 'Command line' node in the 'Project Settings' dialog box), I get the following...

Firstly, I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 and I am building PHP from source through the Visual Studio Command Prompt. Hi all, So I'm working on a C++ application that will eventually embed or extend Python using Boost.Python, but I first need to get Python compiled correctly for my platform. I've got a Windows Vista 64-bit machine with a Core 2 processor, and I'm compiling with a VC8. I downloaded the Python 2.5.1 source from python.org, and I opened the Visual Studio solution file that was in the PCbuild8 directory. I created a new x64 platform and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
