Standby and Hiberate modes

I just had a new computer built. My previous computer was also a custom and
I was using Windows XP home. I purchased a new XP Home edition from Microsoft
and installed it into the new computer-not an upgrade, then transferred the
necessary data from my old hardrive to my new one. All drivers are the same
and are all the latest updates. With my previous computer I was able to
utilize both Standby and Hibernate modes. I now can't access either one.
When I try to use either feature I get a prompt which states " my Standard
101/102 - keyboard or Microsoft PS/2 device is preventing my machine from
using standby or hibernate." One time it blamed my printer driver. I have
checked all of them out under Device Manager but don't see any problems. I am
not a genius with computers so complicated and sophisticated theory will be
wasted on me. I'm sure there is a simple fix or a couple of check marks that
need to be checked but I'm out of ideas. Does anyone out there have a simple
way to get the two features to work on my brand new computer? Thanks.

For hiberantion to work all device drivers have to behave and pwer down when
system signals hibernation mode. If any of those devices is unable to do it
then system can't go into hibernation. I would look into upgrading device
drivers for those devices.

Thanks Winista, I verified I have the latest drivers. The only thing that has
changed from when I could use standby and hibernate is I installed a new
Windows XP OS on a new computer. Things worked perfectly before the change.
Also, I do not have Adobe Type Manager. I know that can cause this problem.
Someone suggested looking into the bios but I didn't find anything in there
that related, but could have missed it. Do you know how to manipulate the
bios to solve this problem? Any other suggestions?

Just a thought, but I came across a helpful software application that
can "test" the functionality of your PC being able
to go in and out of Standby/Hibernate. This may help you determine if
it is a hardware or software related issue that is preventing your
computer from going into standby/hibernate.

Well, I may have forced the issue. After playing around I decided to
uninstall my keyboard driver. I now can use both standby and hibernate
modes. The only thing that I now can't use is the hot keys on the keyboard.
It seems that the keyboard software was preventing standby and hibernation.
What still puzzles me though is why my previous computer liked my keyboard
driver and this one doesn't. there is more to this than meets the eye.

Does anyone know how to disable standby and any other power saver settings when my app is running? My app runs on computers that use touch screens and there is a bug in the driver that doesn't register touchscreen input as input so computers are going into standby when they shouldn't.

db2 8.1 fix pack 12 on AIX 5.3 This is a newly configured HADR machine. The HADR was up and running. I was 'playing' around some on the standby and did a db2 deactivate and things sort of went down hill from there. Though the Standby machine seemed to know it was a standby it would not connect to the primary. I could not even do a db2 get snapshot to view the hadr status on the machine. I was wanting to do a few HADR tests before I...

I would like to make a split mirror copy of a HADR standby database. Please note that I do not want to create a standby with a split mirror of the primary, but I want to make a split mirror of the standby (for a reporting database). But what if I just did a split mirror of the standby, do a db2inidb, then ship the logs over to the split...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
