standalone program to search individual xml files

is there a standalone frontend that will search individual xml files?
what i'm trying to do (maybe there is a better solution?):

- have lots of individual text clippings currently saved as word
documents and with keywords in the properties of each file.
- i was planning on saving each as an ms word xml file
- have some frontend to search each one by the "keyword" tag
- then combine the found entries into one big xml/ms word readable
file.

oh, and open source/freeware solution.

Sounds like you're looking for a command-line tool to evaluate XPaths.
Most XPath engines come with one...

I have a Python program that is built on an infrastructure of quite a few other programs, but I would like to create a standalone nonetheless. It doesn't necesarily have to be its own executable, although this is the most attractive option - it could just mean distributing the entire python distribution with it in an installer or something. However, here is what I have called in my python file: Tkinter, and multiple Pmw widgets...

Hi, I'm writing a small application in Borland C++ Builder 4. Just for your information, it is a win32 application with a GUI, programmed in WinXP, but supposed to run on Win98. Anyways, my executable seems to require some Borland DLL files to be on the system in order to run. How do I create a standalone application, that anyone can run from any computer?

What is the *fastest* way in .NET to search large on-disk text files (100+ MB) for a given string. The files are unindexed and unsorted, and for the purposes of my immediate requirements, can't be indexed/sorted. I don't want to load the entire file into physical memory, memory-mapped files are ok (and preferred). Speed/performance is a requirement -- the target is to locate the string in 10 seconds or less for a 100 MB file. The...

Hi all. In my program I try to handle all obvious potential errors with structured error handling (try-catch) block. What I would like to do is have an 'overall' error handler that would gracefully catch any unanticipated errors. I created a startup module to place my overall error handling for my "real" program which is Form1. My program is structured like this: Module startup

I need to create an EXE that is truly "standalone". By that, I mean the executable file is all that's required for the application to run. My app has a button that fires up a common control (to select a file), and this seems to be my stumbling block. When I try to run my program on another machine, it complains that comdlg32.ocx is not registered properly. Short of creating my own form and writing my own code to browse for a file, can...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
