I am having a very annoying problem with Visual Studio. This problem has
been going on for about half a year now on this project and I'm really sick
of it.
Basically the problem that I have is this. I have a custom control (a DHTML
Textbox using an instance of the Internet Explorer COM object) added
(docked) to a panel that is on a tab control. It lays out just fine. I save
it, I compile it, it works great.
But when I close out of the...

Re: VC++ 2003
I've found two problems associated with using the class browser / wizard (in
an MFC project) to add properties and methods to an interface (IDL file) and
the corresponding (ATL) handler class.
1) Visual Studio insists on checking out every single file in the project
before it will perform this operation that should affect only 3 files.
2) Even after the files are all checked out, the operation is very very
slow, with...

It's possible these are documented somewhere, but I've not found any
reference to them anywhere, and I haven't managed to locate a bug list on
the MSDN site. They relate to unmanaged MFC/ATL projects.
1. Adding a new member to an ATL interface & coclass via the wizard.
Relating to interoperability with Visual Source Safe, this causes every file
in the project to be automatically checked out (subject to prompts for each
one unless I...

Hello everyone
I'm encountering a R6002 Runtime error and several bugs when trying to generate a simple Managed C++ application with .NET 2003. The main problem seems to arise from linking with LIBCMT(D).DLL. (My requirement is that we can't link with MSVCRT(D).LIB.) Below are steps I've followed, and the resulting problems
1. Using the New Project wizard, generate a Visual C++ .NET Class Library project (call it "Doomed") and a VC++...

I am incorporating three existing programs into a new "all in one" program. I
have added the three projects to the new all in one project. How do I
instruct the new initial menu to launch the main menu in each one? I have
tried using the DIM statement with .ShowDialog, however, the forms are not
recognized as they are listed in seperate projects.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Dr. S.

Recently, i am busying myself on a project that support both the Full
..NET Framework 2.0 and .NET Compact Framework 2.0, with the same set of
c# code, but have different project properties and references.
The question is how could I achieve this, should i create separate
project for each purpose?
The most simple approach is creating two separate projects, but i'll
must maintain two sets of codes.

I cannot get this to work. I added an app.config to a project i reference
from my web application project (vs 05) but can see no way to access the
settings within it.
the other thing is that I expected this config file (.dll.config) to get put
in my web app's bin folder along with it's .dll file when i did a build, and
that didnt' happen either.
do I have access to the app.config in my project or is it worthless? If so
why can i add...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
