Evaluate a String as a Boolean value

I want to be able to evaluate a string value as either True or False. So if
the string was "0 Or (1 or 0)" the value True would be returned. My ultimate
goal would be to have a statement similar to:

s="0 Or (1 or 0)"
If s Then
flag=True
Else
flag=False
End If

Hi, $PHONETIC is an array of strings. How can !$PHONETIC, in the case below, evalutae to true. It is a string not a boolean. It would make more sense if it evalutated to null. Thanks Mike <?php

As I remember if(1) evaluates to true and all other numbers including 0 evaluate to false. But where do I find out about this for sure?? I have looked through K&R, all the C for dummies books and various other C programming books but nowhere there is a mention on what a number in an if statement evaluates to. Is this some kind of big secret?

I have developed a program that sends a command through the serial port to our business system and then reads from the buffer looking for a number. Everything worked great on my WinXP system, but when I tried the program on the Win98 system it will be running on, I get the following error: Cast from string "2076719" to type 'Long' is not valid I am not sure why I only get this error on the Win98 system or how to go about correcting...

Hello, I've just started in ASP and I'm having a few teething problems. Initially I tried to write out dates from the database using <asp:Label runat="server" ID="Label6" Text='<%# Eval("ShippedDate") %> But I got a problem with DBNull's, a kind sould told me to look at using IIF and that sorted part of the problem. It bypassed the Nulls but didn't actually put the text in that I'd put in the statement.This is the code

Many people asks if there is a way to write a mathematical expression, writen as a string in a text box, so they can do something like: sub something_click() textbox2.text=eval(textbox1.text) end sub Well, of course it's posible, and can be done with some characters mannaging. This way you can complicate it as much as you want. The way i usualy do it is in 5 simple steps: 1. Create 2 string arrays, and save numbers in one and...

This is kind of a weird one and hard to find answers online because of the format of the question. Essentially I want to be able to have a string that looks like this "True AND True AND True" and evaluate that to a boolean which in this case would be True. Another example would be "(True or False) AND True" would be True. The reason for this is that I have a form where the user has to build some logic in a graphical interface. I can evaluate...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
