Icons & Bitmaps with installation

TFB
I am looking, but cannot find, the location of icons and bitmaps after
installation of
VS2005. Are there any included? I know in 2003 there were many to choose
from but either I am looking in the wrong place or they are not included
(which I doubt) or I have just been up too long today and cannot think
straight.

They should be somewhere in the Program files folders. I think that your
last sentence is the right one. I have always that trouble myself as well. I
mean the first and sometimes the last.

They are in a Zip file somewhere either in the Program folder or on the
installation CD. I don't remember exactly at this point, but I did find
them, and unzipped them to a convenient location on my machine.

Does anyone know if there is a reason to prefer bitmaps over icons (or vice-versa) when populating image lists? I've always favored icons because of their built-in transparency (although I've never use the invert "color"). But I've noticed that Microsoft seems to favor bitmaps in many of their sample applications. Is there a reason? For instance, do icons clutter the icon cache or require more system resources whereas bitmaps do not? ...

Hi, I know that Windows comes with own icons and bitmaps for menus, toolbars, etc, which are compiled into ressource dlls. Is it possible to use these images into the own program and how do I do that? I suppose these images all have some name, which I would use to get the icon for let's say "New File" and put it on my apps toolbar... Is there some place with docs what images/icons are available and in which dll? Thanks for your replies.

Good morning. I'd like to know if I can use for free the animations, the bitmaps and the icons inside the archive VS2005ImageLibrary.zip in the installation path of VB2005 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\VS2005ImageLibrary, for developing my application, without any further royalty nor license, beyond the licensed copy of VB2005. Thanks

This is a newbie question: I've got VS2005 installed on my PC. This is the premier development environment for the latest & greatest application. Dumb Question: How come it comes with no graphic libraries, icons, backgrounds, gradients, etc, etc? Is it somewhere hiding that I didn't see? Right now I've got plain grey forms, buttons, etc...just like good ol' VB6. I want to make my app look a little more appealing. I know it's...

I am building a form to simulate the Access 2000-2003 database window, to use in Access 2007 so my users don't freak out with the new interface. I have a program called Resource Extractor form Alchemy Mindworks that allows extracting bitmaps and icons from EXE and DLL files, but I can't seem to find which file has the Access icons embedded. Thanks in advance, Bill Mitchell

Is there such a thing as storing icons or bitmaps into a resource file, and adding more icons or bitmaps into the resource file at runtime? I want to store a bunch of icons into a resource file, and at runtime I want to be able to add more icons as I need to add. I don't want to use an imagelist because that will be a set number of icons in the program.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
