Setting an application to never time out, or...

I have a .net application that takes a couple of minutes to initialize,
so I'm using the Application state to let it persist accross sessions.
This is working well so far - after the first time the app is run, it
starts quickly for subsequent sessions.

However, it seems that when I wake up in the morning the application
has ended, which m eans the first session that day takes a few mintues
to start.

I haven't been able to find a way to keep my application from ending,
and I haven't found good documentation (yet) about it (i.e. details
about the Application_End event).

So I have two questions. First, is there a way to keep the app from
ending? Is this something I can mess with in global.asax? Is it an IIS
setting? Second, should I take a different approach? Perhaps having it
restart on a schedule?

BTW, the fact that the app takes so long to start is out of my control.

Thanks!

For example, in Python in a Nutshell, Alex Martelli shows how you can run a Windows (notepad.exe) or Unix-like (/bin/vim) text editor using os.spawnv(os.P_WAIT, editor, ) But how would you call the OS X text editor /Applications/TextEdit.app - which appears to be a whole directory inside /Applications? I'm sorry if the answer is blindingly obvious. I work alone and sometimes just get stuck, then have to ask in public and risk appearing...

Can I set the Format property in a date/time field in code? Can I set the Input Mask in a date/time field in code? Can I set the Format of a Yes/No field to Checkbox in code? I am working on a remote update of tables and fields and can't find enough information on these things. Also, how do you index a field in code?

Hi, For the last couple of releases of a product we're developing we've been running to very wierd behavior from IE and our ASP.NET web application which serves up various types of files and I'm getting very frustrated in trying to solve it! We content we are serving up is potentially sensitive and therefore we DO NOT want it cached on the remote client (IE) beyond the lifetime of the application rendering it (IE, Powerpoint, Word...

Hi: We developed a set of ASP.NET Web Applications that never runs in stand-alone mode, but always inside a portal (Rainbow Portal). All modules are copied on that portal. My question is: load time takes, sometimes, three or four of minutes in a medium-level machine (a PIII 1.5 Ghz), when the binary contents are changed, or if the time of last modification of the web.config file is changed. An application that runs in "stand-alone" mode...

We have an issue with load time in several installations of our application. We've located the information regarding KB 936707 and ensured that the application config file contains the runtime setting of <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false"/> but the application still takes over 2 minutes to load. When we disconnect the PC from the network (internet) then the application loads in about 5 seconds. We've ensured the .net 2.0...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
